Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

The demo for PC will only be release after the full game... FFS. I'd like to know if my PC could handle it... (it handles Apex with 37FPS stable tho, which is sort of bad...)

Ok, I don't know if the W10 Anniversary update affects performance or not, but my framerate on Apex went from 37 on Medium to 70 on High. What the bloody balls.

Was gonna post that. I'll always have a soft spot for the gen 9. I learned to drive in one and I wouldn't mind driving an XRS at all...

I know right, especially with all the advancing technologies im sure they could come up with something crazy

(yamaha I think recently built a sequential gearbox for one of their side x side's (off road vehicle), what if they did that for a car company instead? :P

I don't know either, but when I did a fresh install of windows 10 on my laptop with the SSD upgrade, it also installed the anniversary update which I like very much. Just wish it would hurry up and update on my desktop as well. Dark theme is love. :D

I hate Cortana though and apparently you can't completely shut her up with this update. :(

IF YOU HATE TROUBLESHOOTING, SKIP THIS POST ENTIRELY

Hi all,

I've been on our whining Mondeo again, which I posted about earlier.

I'm still looking for some help.

Spoiler

I've had some premium time today to look at it, and I found the whining noise to be coming from the lower left of the engine (passenger side), which I can't figure out what is located there, as I can't find any proper documentation and I'm not even sure which engine exactly is in this car, the only thing I know for sure is that it's a 2.0 turbodiesel. (Car is Ford Mondeo MK4 Station, 2009)

Some details on the whining noise:
- Happens after couple minutes of driving.

- Increases with engine RPM

- Isn't the gearbox, problem still there when holding the clutch

- Car drives fine and shows no sick syndroms except for the noise.

Me and my dad where thinking about a possible vacuum pump failure, or any pump of some sort, but turbo is also coming to my mind.

My neighbour showed up and told me the thermostat is broken, simply by listening to the car for a total grand of half a second.

I just went "uhu, uhu," he was telling all kinds of things like how he's a truck driver and hears noises all the time and that it could be a sensor and stuff.

I took his word into consideration, but have some questions.

Can a broken thermostat cause a terrible and loud whining noise that is hearable from across the street?

It's definitely coming from the lower left of the engine (passenger side).

What do you guys think?

I will make a recording of the noise as soon as possible, but it's pitch dark at the moment and I can't continue to work.

Will also be monitoring temperature of the car, and if the heaters still work. If any of those are wrong it could indeed be a thermostat, but I didn't know a thermostat could make a terrible whining noise.

Btw important to note, the noise has gotten significantly worse since the date I first posted about it and today.

My dad still won't bring it to a garage.

My mom is slowly growing concerned. (Thank god)

Put the wheels down while still turning. Saved it and ran in the 8s. Balls of steel right there

Yep I had to force it on mine as well. Friend told me about the website. It's harder to find now than a couple weeks ago though so they are trying to hide it I guess lol
