Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I have never even heard of them so I will look into them

As for the jack I was looking at some of the cheaper husky ones but then noticed they only lifted like 12 inches which seemed rather low.

Grey Pneumatic is fantastic. I use their 3/8 duo metric set every day. They are abused hard. I've had two replaced so far in almost 2 years of ownership. They are lifetime, but not sure where you would get them replaced unless you get a hold of a tool truck. I get my Grey Pneumatic stuff from Mac.

Husky stuff is good. However I'm not a fan of their ratchets. Though I'm picky about ratchets. So far I have yet to find one that matches snap on/matco/mac. For 3/8 I have a snap on flex with grip and a non flex with grip. I also have mac's now old 3/8s ratchet and I love that thing. Very fine teeth and the handle is close to on center so it makes quickly removing/installing spark plugs easily. 1/4 ratchet I use a matco locking flex with grip. Insanely fine teeth, but terrible on center flex. Also have a snap on flex but I don't use that often. 1/2 I use my grey pneumatic or my 3 foot matco ratchet.

I always think of the old hard plastic snap on grips that I do not like. My main exposure to ratchets have been craftsman and not very fine tooth or 1/4 snap on and matco ratchets

Thats the one I got, the red parts are plastic and the black is a rubberized grip. Feels really good in the hand. Just keep it clean (brake clean or gas works good lol).

Thats the mac one, and if I had to pick one to live with I would choose the mac one. There has been stuff I couldn't imagine getting off without this thing. Awesome ratchet.

Some updates as I can't Fucking sleep. Anyways. The idea of the 30 pin went to shit. Proper cables are shipping out tomorrow probably and I'm getting fed up with my fog lights not staying aimed. So close to just ordering a pair of 7" Cree led fog lights for $36 shipped. Need to go take some measures tomorrow and see if they'll fit. Gonna need to cut to the lower air dam thing some more but seriously Fuck it. This summer will be good though. Going to finally get a bucket seat and a console built. Switches galore.

Aaaaaand it's finally up! (51 weeks late)

Skip to the halfway to see the fun stuff. The first bit is a simple slalom, the second but is the "full" course but this is just the first day of driver training. Two miatas, a million BRZs, a couple GD and GR STIs, an E30 325i, someone brought a transam, and someone else brought a G8. There was a Volvo V60 as well but they didnt do so hot. Oh, and a new STI and fourth gen 2.5gt legacy wagon being driven pretty hard. As well as a GTR, the E36 V8 racecar, and a nova. The Datsun 240Z is still my favourite tho.

Excuse the wind noise, this was the second event I filmed that season and didn't have all my gear yet lel.

Still working through old projects. This is May 2015, Pirelli World challenge TC/TCB classes at Mosport. Unfortunately I only recorded video on the Friday and dedicated the rest of the weekend to photos, so I don't have much video. Was experimenting with mounting an action cam ontop of the camera while I shot, which was neat at first, until I started getting longer lenses.

so i have cut out 2 cars from my decision (griffith and sl600) because if i had any problems with either of the cars i would have to pay a ton of money to get them fixed and both of them have been known to break a lot I might eventually get a griffith just because i like the design but since they are to new over here in the states i cant import one without issues. So that leaves me with the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Elise.

Ah, good old Mosport. We're going there this weekend actually. To race! :)

Over the past month or so, we've been working frantically on prepping a car for Chump car racing. Our weapon of choice (meaning the best we could afford :P) ? A 96 Hyundai Elantra. Yes, that's right. But this was not a road warrior turned into a track warrior, this is a factory race car that came straight from Hyundai, fully caged and has been raced it's entire life.

I will primarily be one of the team mechanics tasked with fixing what ever breaks as fast as possible during the two 8-hour endurance races. I would be driving, but the required spec helmet, fire suit, shoes, hans device and driver's entry fee is all very expensive. Got the car for a steal, all things considered. Has a full fire suppression system (mandatory) and all the proper racing kit. Suspension required a lot of work to get it how we wanted it. All 4 shock were blown and the previous owner had the wrong springs on the wrong end (should be stiffer springs at the rear for a FWD). Getting the old shocks apart was quite the task. Ended up having to cut the bottom of the strut sleeve open and bash the shock out the bottom. As you can see from the video here, we do things in a very professional manner. ;)

The shocks we put in to replace the old ones are some random Bilstiens from some other car that had the right length (more or less). This involved modifying the strut housing with an extension.

I'm down. I think Shannonville and Calabogie are the only places I didn't visit last season. Only did Mosport (GP, DDT) and Cayuga but the bug has bit aha. Might check out Grand Bend if I have time. Better get some sweet vids from Mosport for us :P

CSCS is going to iCAR Montreal again this year, and I really want to do GP3R for Formula Drift and GT3 Cup Canada but it looks unlikely that I'll be leaving Ontario this summer lol.

I'll try to get some footage, but I suck at documenting events. Will probably have our hands full keeping the car rollin for the full 8 hours on both days. :P I'm sure some of the calamities and shenanigans will be recorded... ;)

i know thats why i cant make a decision. Like the cayman has many more amenities but the lotus is so much more exotic around here and is just more of a drivers car. that being said i know i can mod some amenities into a lotus if i wanted to like heated seats for example.

i know thats the challenge

For a daily car, I would go with the Cayman all day every day. Parts are going to be easier to find, plus additional space for hauling whatever.

For a track car/ sunday fun car, I'd go Exige. (Fuck your rules)
