Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

M8, you need to just get all the junkmobiles you can, remove the plates and vin numbers and begin your epic parking spot monopoly!

either that, or i just take a whole bunch of junk cars, and while school isn't in operation, when the parking lot is normally empty, i just take a whole bunch and just fill the parking lot with them. the best thing about my school is that the parking lot is locked up with gates except for one opening, which is closed with cones. it's like the easiest way to get in.

hence why I'm asking you guys about the issue and not working on the car

Well we found there is oil coming from what appears to be the turbo drain line. Oil was low.

brand new engine and turbo and spent over a month at a dealership only to find they did it WRONG

image.thumb.jpg.508ea8f5a46b111934a8aeb8

intercooler hose also looked not installed properly so we think that was the air noise issue.

UPDATE: there is a bolt missing on the oil drain pipe. Hence the leak. It's not sealed.

Be sure that is a drain. If not, that new turbo could be screwed, hence the noise. Pretty damn terrible work.

Buy a Volvo p1800 and swap in a b230f Volvo engine. (With a bit of work, two turbos and a 16 valve head those engines make close to 1000hp)

stuff missing all all over the place. Halfway done job... Hopefully if you can see that video (I uploaded it inside of LTT) you'll see the oil leak better. Bolt completely missing.

there are bolts and clips under the car missing too my friend said. Oil everywhere. It's a mess.

Run it out of oil and take it back to the dealer

He doesn't want to be without his car again for months because of needing an engine again so he's just gonna try to stay out of boost and we filled it back up with oil and he will putter over there tomorrow.

yeah next time don't go to the dealer to get a new engine installed. just tell them you needed a new engine, get a crate engine under warranty, and just get it installed by a trusted engine shop.

Whats missing in the 3rd pic? Some sort of bracket off the intake?

I remember the caddy northstar headgasket job that took like 3 weeks because of shit messing up and waiting for parts/tools. I only recall having two left over bolts. One on the ABS pump bracket which had 3 other bolts on it and was really hard to get to, and the alternator bolt from hell that everybody leaves out on those. I would say thats way more complex than that little ecoboost r&r.

In other news, I found some super cheap Acura Vigors near me. Maybe a cool project car.

Here's my uncles 1984 nissan pickup. Fun little guy. Running amazing. Fresh motor with a mild cam in it. Fresh paint on the cab. Only thing wrong is the oil pressure guage doesn't work. It's also got a header and exhaust. I think it's the 2.4? 4 banger 4 wheel drive 5 speed. Awesome truck. No rust save for a few tiny spots on the inside of the bed.

maybe turbo 5 cylinder honda engine? since it's a longitudinal engine, but fwd, you might be able to hack together a rwd conversion. could make a sweet drift car.

Maybe turbo, rwd conversion would take too much time and money for my goals. Plus finding a rwd trans that has a honda bolt pattern adapter would be hard I would imagine.

Alright guys, another one for ya.

Toyota rav 4

1997

Manual

2L engine

4 door

2WD

196k miles

The issue is that it stutters when you accelerate. It has been getting worse lately and it has nearly stalled at several intersections. My guess is that either the spark plugs are not firing, the fuel injection system isnt working, or it is not getting air.

Spark plugs are quite old but it does not seem like it would cause this

Checked and cleaned the air filter

Reseated all fuses and relays under the hood

Replaced all O2 sensors (fixed the check engine light)

Still has the same issues. Its buttery smooth when floored or a constant speed...

Tomorrow I might try reseating basically every plug under the hood to see if its just a poor connection somewhere. But the idiot light has not come on in at least 5 months, so what gives?
