Repeated flushing with isopropanol perhaps?

that's what I would think but if it's a thicker paste how will u do it then?

It should still work.

flushing it is probably the best option. absolutely NO TOUCHING of the pins as they are VERY delicate.

You state that your question is random; however, I feel like you (or possibly a "friend") has done this exact thing recently.

But agreed, you'd have to rinse it all out with alcohol.

What kind of thermal paste did you use? Hopefully something not electronically conductive?

It's doubly funny since thats what Intel uses between the die and IHS

If its conductive and you boot, dead mobo/cpu. If its non-conductive and you boot, nothing as it wouldn't boot.

I would think you would need to use something that could provide a gentle but effective spray of alcohol to flush out the paste.

If you can't solubilize the thermal paste, throw the board away and buy a new one. The paste itself might not be thermally conductive, but it could carry capacitance, which can be just as bad.

God I knew someone would do it.

Someone did, they then proceeded to try selling it to me.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

This is so unrealistic. There isn't a clamp for the ZIF arm. /s

I can't imagine how you could get it into the socket unless you somehow got it all over the pins/contacts on the CPU first. In which case, clean the CPU off first. xDxD
