i, personally, have hated every single version of the ACX and now IXC cooler. it looks just SO bad. the ACX 2.0 is the most bearable of them, but even that is garbage. Gigabyte made the best cards for the 900 series and i used to be a big fan, but with 1000 series they fucked up and went with a bunch of shitty looking orange. for 1000 series im honestly not sure who i like the best of the cards you can actiually get easely but either KF2A EXOC(once you turn off the LEDs) or the MSI tripple fan cards(screw the TwinFrozer cards unless you are doing a red theme) but generally EVERYONE screwed up their designs and i pretty much dislike them all sadly

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

In all reality, I dont see why the hate. It's just a thicker ACX 3.0 cooler, which AFAIL people didnt have an issue with previously.

I like the evga style coolers, especially the organic esk style of the 1080ti. But when their more  than dual slot anything looks bad. Evga's stamp and the 1070 stamp... Looks good. Add another inch of fins above that? Not so much anymore. Same thing applies for that new garbage looking Asus Cerberus and the Zotac amp extreme. More than 2 slots never, ever looks good. 

 

Totally my personal opinion, but my pc is as much a piece of art to me as a gaming machine. 

Fanboys are the worst thing to happen to the tech community World. Chief among them are Apple fanboys.

KFA2/Galax is slow and MSI explodes.

we are talking cooler design, not build quality lol, EVGA blow them to pices xD

Yeah I was saying I like triple slot. I agree with you. But MSI and EVGA are tied for worst cooler designs

The issue I have with a 2.5 slot card is you've made that 3rd slot useless anyway, so you may as well take it all and make this a 3 slot card.  Doing just 2.5 gets you the disadvantage of needing more than 2 without getting the full advantage of having 3.

I thought it was close to the 1080 as it is, just a bit slowed down? Last I checked it's essentially a slowed down 1080 but you could achieve practically 1080 performance with a bit of an overclock.

1070 TI has a little less Cuda Cores 5%, Clock Speed is a little lower 3%  and has GDDR5 vs GDDR5x  10GHZ vs 8GHZ

 

but from my understanding most get within 5% some even a tad closer and a lucky few beat/ tie a bad stock 1080.  But then a OC 1080 will pull the gap back to normal size.  this could help make the 1080 OC vs 1070TI OC closer to each other. comparing apples to apples they should both be overclocked. 

 

My personal 1080 Over clocks not the best  goes to like 1990MHZ so id imagine most 1070 TI could catch it with a beefy cooler or lucky chip But a base clock 1070 TI is 1607 so its got a ways to go to beat the 1080 still even with a bad OC. it has 5% less cuda cores then a 1080 so it needs to clock 5% higher to tie mine it would need to get to 2100mhz.

 

 

TLDR: Ive seen a good amount of nvidia founder 1080 cards getting 2100mhz mine craps out around 2000 starts artifacts and crashing.   Not sure if 1070TI could hit 2100 but if it can it could tie/Beat my 1080 at its max overclock.  Eitherway there prices and performance are very close

I could care less how it looks... its all about how does it work, and since switching to green team EVGA's shit runs the coolest, this is good for longevity and resale. Its very possible with this card there was no reason to nake it a full 3 slot card, its quite possible it would not have improved performance.

This card has a bigger heatsink which helps with noise and temperatures.
