How can I use up to all the horsepower of my PC

So yeah you guys can see the details about my PC in my signature below.

These days I don't play games anymore cause I do not find fun playing. I simply play 2 games that I usually play with my girlfriend: Clash Royale and Mobile Mortal Kombat X.

I was planning to sell all my stuff and get a used Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch with 16GB to replace both my main PC and my Macbook Air 11 inch 2011 (as my to go machine) but it seems quite uneasy to resell all of them at a good price (I'm here in Vietnam)

So I kinda decide to not sell them anymore and I wonder apart from watching youtube all day long and running some virtual machine (simulators I use to play clones of those mobile games).

I wonder what I could start doing or learning to make use of the horsepower of this machine (which I built simply to play offline games and stream some esports like Dota 2 and CSGO but these days I don't play anymore).

I heard doing something like modeling 3D or sketching some CADs might be cool.

What else could be great using my PC? And also if you guys come up with an idea, could you guys give me a brief introduction onto how I could start? Many thanks to you guys here in LTT.

I appreciate any kind of help before the idea of reselling all my stuff comes back again cause I know my mind is not staying still. It's a weak part of me.

You could try programs like Folding, basically donating your computer's procesing power to good causes.

Undervolt and underclock your gpu a bit to make it more efficient, and try doing some mining.

Virtual Machines is the way to make your PC work harder

You basically mine for them, and they pay you in bitcoin.  You are correct that its not economical for you to mine bitcoin, but you can mine all kinds of altcoins that are just as profitable.  Using a site like nicehash, you don't have to worry about converting stuff to bitcoin.

You want to make your PC "work" to it's fullest potential, but you don't want to hear the fans running? You can't really have one without the other unless you go full water cooled.

You misunderstood what I meant. I wanted to do something useful which consumes the power of my PC, something like building a 3D model, sketching some CADs, do some after effects etc. I did not mean I wanted it to run the whole day long

Il second on the folding. It's for a good cause, and there some odd satisfaction about it. 

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600W, Rampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler,  MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda. 

 

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.
