Who Else Smells Their New Computer Hardware

Joey F

I have to admit, I smell every new computer hardware I get. I don't care what it is, CPU, PSU, GPU. I'd smell a new board if I ever got one.

Would you?

Why does it all smell like petroleum?

The only thing I smell more than any other part is my GPU. There's something about the plastic peeling that makes smelling it even better.... uh yeah.

Corsair power supplies smell nasty imo. Like burning plastic or something.

As a person who regularly designs and pushes electronics over their limits, its a smell you'll know very well.

Still have the supply? I'll buy it

I smelt it for a week before realizing it was coming from the psu, and by then it was far too late.

I mostly smell electronics after failure or near failure to attempt to narrow down the POF to see if it is a component I can fix.

Although I do admit to smelling my GTX 1080 when I first got it...9_9
