I think my CPU can last for another 3 years.

If you're still satisfied with your current performance no need to upgrade

Haswell is is the generation after yours. Haswell mainstream being 4XXX models, with Ivy Bridge mainstream being 3XXX. You could consider the 4460 the successor to yours.

Oh right, didn't remember that the first digit was the generation. Been using the thing since 2012 so gosh it's been 5 years.

So since intel is discontinuing skylake we should be seeing some sweet deals on those processors in the near future (maybe I'll finally get that 6700k I've wanted but didn't want a ramen diet to get it)

Could be signs of the times boys Coffee Lake is full steam ahead... But seriously though... What took Intel soo long to discontinue skylake ?

Got it with the plan to upgrade to a 6700k but money got tight after my first AIO died

To be honest if 7 games i played were routinely dropping into the 30's whilst gaming and i had a 6500, the cpu would not be my first thought. That seems very odd that it would be performing that badly. Unless you mean only immediately after loading the game or a level or something?

I play more than the 7 listed but if there's too much action on screen say for bf1,r6 or pubg my frames tank hard from 130 to 35 for that moment then it's back to normal. Argo isn't really that optimized so it's hard to hold frames in that on a whole. DragonNest well I have no idea how that game never touches gpu and never maxes the cpu but the frames are in the 12ish or lower regions when in the most populated town and god forbid I'm in a raid with a bunch of paladins, witches and moonlords (Should be a screenshot of my fps in DN just standing in town in the thread.)

I already know it can't be RAM since me and magetank took that from 2400 to 3066 the other day and I ran some games and the minimums came up, it can't be the 1070 either since magetank also helped me bring up my boost clock to 2114 Mhz (some games it goes as high as 2126 Mhz). Most definitely isn't the monitor and going by RTSS it could only be the cpu since that's at 100% usage (except for when playing DN)

Can you check how many threads the game asks for using Resource Manager? You've just piqued my curiosity on the matter.

yup

The developer might have an engine that's inflexible of changing thread count; not unheard of for most MMO's.

Is this the game? I'll try it out and see what happens. NVMe, overclocks of anything, and I'll give you a buzz, if you'd like.

I'll also try different frequencies, though I'd laugh if a .5GHz is all you'd need for no drops. #PrematureThreadEjection

Does the evolution of English allow for other word vicissitudes to be also correct?  Or must we stick primarily to the original etymology?  Because if the later then while the spelling is correct the usage isn't, and if the former then the spelling can also be pricked or piked but the meaning is contextually relevant.

My understanding is that piqued actually means irritated or pricked.   But then @ARikozuM may have meant to indicate that his curiosity was irritated. O.o

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
