What's wrong with keeping rectangular design. It's simple and minimalistic and like industrial look.
As far as white backplate if so It's pretty neat though. It can still be used as for various builds since white is neutral, not as stealthy as black. But if you want it stand out great.

Also, custom UI overlays are a thing that exist. I wouldn't put it past someone to make an OSX menu bar for their Windows install, or a Windows taskbar on OSX, just for some familiarity of both.

Yikes, but that is at least a dual gpu card, so it kinda has an excuse. But no one would accept such noise levels today.
