Anti virius for window's 10?

Is there a good antivirus for windows? also are they worth downloading anymore?

I use Malwarebytes along with windows 10's defender (the built in one)

I do the same thing but I use Avast instead of windows defender. Windows Defender always caused problems for me.

There is no sane reason to install a third-party anti-virus software, unless you want to add more potential attack vectors to your machine.

I use Bitdefender only because I get it for free under work. Windows defender is fine if you make sure to do monthly or quarterly malware/virus scans.

Stick with Microsoft Defender and practice safe internet browsing habits. More often than not, antivirus software will basically act like the very definition of a computer virus themselves (i.e., do behavior that is considered malicious by the user). So software that's supposed to help your computer defend itself from malware and other hacks broke a security feature.

 

Also comments on that article were rather sane and they pointed out something: Microsoft actually has a reason and a large stake in making AV software that's at least somewhat competent whereas no third party companies have a reason to do so.

 

Though the only "AV" I use is Malwarebytes Antimalware because it's not terrible. There's only a few times I have to tell it "no, that program is legitimate" or "Oh, thanks for telling me the installer has Open Candy, now can I run it?"

By that definition Win10 itself is a virus.

 

 

Joking aside, refrain from using any antivirus except Windows Defender, Security Essentials or whatever Microsoft decides to call it this week.
