Random Tech you want that doesn't exist

So I want a duel CPU motherboard with a Z270 and an X99 chipset, and ideally one that could share RAM between both CPU's simultaneously (which is actually probably not possible).

 

Get the 4 core performance of a 7700k while having more cores for multi-threaded workloads. Of course I'm pretty sure that you would need a new operating system and probably something on the CPU end to support taking full advantage of differing clockspeeds on differing cores across separate CPU's. But a man can dream.

 

Oh, I would also like someone to make a really good system on a chip integrated into an actual top of the line monitor. Start with something like the x24 and then take a 1080, a 7700k, 32 GB of ram, and a few TB of flash storage and build them all straight into a single PCB. Dump a full coverage waterblock with pump and turn the entire back of the x34 into a radiator, integrate fans to pull air in from below and above the monitor and blow it out the back through the rad (not ideal but given the size you have to work with you can use some fairly slow fans).

I'd like a flagship smartphone, for the same price as recent flagship smartphones, that has enthusiast / desktop server grade performance & capacity - for example, the equivalent of 8x Xeon E7-8890 v4s OC'd to 5 GHz, 2 Quadro P6000s in SLI per CPU, 24 TB DDR4-4266 ECC RAM, 1 PB of NVMe SSDs in Raid 0, etc.

 

Bringing it a bit more down to earth, I'd settle for an 8c/16t Ryzen CPU (or equivalent-performance Intel), Vega GPU (the one that does Doom at 70fps 4K, or equivalent-performance Nvidia), 32 GB DDR4-2666, a 250GB NVMe SSD and a 2TB SATA SSD.

 

Oh, and in either case, something with all-day battery life and that doesn't get too hot, even under extreme loads like running Prime95 Small FFT and Furmark simultaneously.

Something like a graphics card with two Titan XP GPU's on it would be perfectly acceptable however. It doesn't exist but it could.

An upgradable laptop/desktop hybrid kinda like the Nintendo Switch. Hear me out on this one as I know that they make gpu docks and all now. However I want a package deal with the laptop and cradle/tower for the desktop gpu included. All you have to do is add your own descrete gpu for the tower. I would have the laptop fold closed and dock on its spine vertically in the tower and just use its brains to run external screens and peripherals just like a normal tower. Need to head out? Just undock and put the laptop in your travel case of choice with your accessories. Make it where you can send it in to upgrade the gpu on the laptop at least and I think you would have a winner.

I could use better compute devices than available. CPUs are great, but are ram bandwidth starved. Consumer GPUs lack precision. I need to go beyond DP FP at high rates, with a system capable of feeding it.

The Intel Xeon Phi compute cards are what you are looking for, but they are crazy expensive.

You're forgetting about the relatively cheaper 57 core version with 228 threads. Also, that 61 core version has 244 threads

Blackberry is actually coming out with one, and it's supposedly supposed to be much better then their horrible "Passport".

I'm monitoring the latest ones, not because of the number of cores, but because they implement AVX512 instructions which may give a bit of a boost over AVX2 as software is updated. Downside is I'm not aware of any plans for AVX512 to make it into consumer CPUs any time soon, but is believed to hit future regular Xeons.

 

And just because this is a random wish thread, AVX512 is still thinking too small. I'd like to see far bigger register sizes. Think megabit level.

Oh yea BB had one not that long ago but tbh blackberry did some imo awful stuff in the past and because of that i don't even want to get near a BB device...

Also it was stupidly expensive and i'm not prepared to spend that much on a phone, yay for being a student...
