I recieved a GTX 1070 + PS4 Slim!
Also got a LOT of socks

I've been asking for nothing, for the past... 12 years now? Since I was 15, I'm 27. Yet every year, my mom stills gives me a "little something", be it money or lottery tickets. Hopefully this year she will finally understand that I really do mean it, I want nothing. If I wanted something, I would've bought it long ago for myself.

This is what happens when your childhood is filled with nothing but disappointment in terms of gifts. Ask for something, get a shitty, nerfed version of it... For example, when I was a kid, I asked for a RC car, you know, the kind you can drive around outside, have fun with your friends who also had one. What I got was a Corded RC car. The fuck do you want me to do with this shit!? God damn cord was barely 4 feet long!

The last "good gift" was Half Life 2 in 2004. (It's been that long since that game came out, damn...) After that I just asked my parents and everyone else to not get me anything. I'd rather them not waste their money on junk, than to be disappointed. Christmas is about family and having fun. Not shitty, most likely disappointing, presents.

Wow a little ungrateful? You know my mom died laat year I now miss the fact she would always really try to get my sister and I something even as adults when her health was failing and she really couldnt afford it.

Anyways my sister v got me lots of practical stuff I bougjr a mini fridge something I desperatly needdes ( I rent a room and kitchn is shared by people)  I asked my sistee what sje wanted and she said for me tp be self sustaining.

I'm sorry for your loss, but there's "trying" and there's "not trying".

It'd be fine if they were putting any thought at all in what they were getting, but my parents obviously weren't.

Even nowaday when I shop with her for the gifts for my nephew and nieces, she goes to pick the worst possible things and I have to stop her and get something the kids actually want instead, just so she doesn't end up ruining Christmas for them as well. Because believe it or not, getting "junk" for Christmas as a kid can be sort of traumatizing a, it's like "don't they love me?". I'd get it if we were poor and just couldn't afford anything better, but that's isn't the case for us.

Heck, this year she wanted to buy some star wars action figurine for my nephew, which wouldn't have been too bad... if not for the fact that he's 5, has never watched a single star wars movie and doesn't even know what it is.

So I got her to get a Paw Patrol toy instead because he's crazy about those. It was a good call considering he loved it when he opened it earlier.

So yeah, I'm fine with being ungrateful if it means not having to deal with terrible, no-thought-given, presents and just enjoy our time together instead.
