Mafia 3 benchmarked

Guest

Jonas Thörnqvist, Senior Editior of Sweclockers (swedish tech magazine) posted this image (see below) on his twitter account with accompanying text "Tror vi hoppar över prestandatestet av Mafia III tillsvidare..." which roughly translates to "I think we are skipping the performance test of Mafia 3 for now".

This might be satire, i don't know but Emil Åkered who is a higher up at the same magazine left a troll face picture in the comments of Jonas' post before removing it seconds later.

The most optimized game ever ! Look how many GPUs get same performance no matter what, thats insane !

Very steady FPS. Who wants their fps to jump from 60 to 150. With Mafia III we introduce new technology called "SteadyReadyGo" where u dont lose any FPS.

Connection200mbps / 12mbps 5Ghz wifi

They always say that they are addressing issues that shouldn't be there for the PC release in the first place. Like... seriously 30fps. What a joke. If you set to 30 because you have an older GPU I get it, but being forced with it. Facepalm.

I know they will unlock it from 30fps after release, but seriously such that things like this continue to happen.

They have stated on their website that they're working on an update which will provide 3 options: 30fps, 60fps and unlimited fps.

Good news everyone!

The dev said they are readying a patch as soon as this weekend so maybe even today:

https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/en-mafia-3-a-message-to-our-pc-players/

The bad news? I bet you guys 20 bucks the game will barely crack 60 on a 1070 or 1080 at max settings 1080p and will probably stutter like crazy or have very frequent dips.

Do not care because the point is: They developed the game at 30 like absolute idiots and now they need to "fix" it. The Crew did same 2 years ago... Mafia was on PC many times before. How does a company go backwards ?! Actually its because of money... Focus on consoles instead of high uality product :(

I am still not fond of developers taking most of the frames away to release later as DLC, even if it is free.

I wonder how well my HD 5450 would stack up in this benchmark.

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Yea... this is the biggest problem. Why they do this even for consoles blows my mind. It's better to make it uncapped, then limit it, NOT the other way around.

LMAO brilliant.

I have been playing mafia 3 this morning, what I found funny is the loading screens are not capped at 30fps. They tend to bounce between 40-50fps

You're probably right, they just happen to "forget" to uncap the fps while reviewers were playing it.

A lot of early reviewers also leave out the fact that it's running at 30fps. Hmmm... They all just say how GREAT it is. So the PS4 version is great, but the PC version is buggy..."awesome".

That's pretty good, but I hear the are unlocking the frame rate this weekend. I'll probably pick it up on the Christmas sale.

Do they know its 2016? I look forward to BF1. Exemplary game right there.

Have you played any recent Battlefield game at launch? They are complete rubbish, technically and gameplaywise.
