There are a few common reasons why Instant Flash won't detect your file even on a FAT32 USB.

First, try a rear USB 2.0 port, the black ones, not the blue USB 3.0 ports. ASRock Instant Flash often ignores USB 3.0 ports completely during BIOS flashing.

Second, make sure the .rom file is sitting directly in the root of the USB drive, not inside any folder. Also double check the filename doesn't have a weird double extension like .ROM.rom after extracting the zip.

Third, there's a known issue on B450 boards where AMD fTPM being enabled in BIOS blocks Instant Flash from seeing the file. Go into BIOS, find Advanced, then AMD fTPM switch, set it to Disabled, save and reboot back into BIOS, then try Instant Flash again.

Fourth, when you format the USB make sure you're using FAT32 with 4096 byte allocation unit size. Some tools format it slightly wrong and the board won't read it.

As an alternative, instead of going through the Tool menu inside BIOS, try pressing F6 right after you power on during POST. That launches Instant Flash directly and sometimes works when the menu method doesn't.

After the flash completes, go back into BIOS and load UEFI Defaults before booting into Windows.

Which ports did you try so far, rear or front panel?

Cheers.

Andrzej

That possibly points to few things.

First, make sure you downloaded the exact BIOS for B450M HDV R4.0, not another version of the board. Pull the file again and extract it fresh, because a bad or corrupted ZIP can also show the no image file detected message.

Second, do a full CMOS clear with the power unplugged. Turn off the power supply, remove the CMOS battery for a minute, put it back in, then try again. Old BIOS settings can block Instant Flash from working at all.

Third, in BIOS check if AMD fTPM is enabled and turn it off, then save and reboot back into BIOS before launching Instant Flash again.

Fourth, format the USB as FAT32 with MBR partition style, not GPT. Some ASRock boards will not read the BIOS file if the USB is GPT.

Also, some ASRock boards need you to go through an older BIOS version before flashing the newest one. If the board still does not see anything, try putting an older BIOS file on the same USB next to the new one and see if Instant Flash picks that up.

If none of that works, you can try updating from Windows using the ASRock Live Update and App Shop instead of Instant Flash. That sometimes works even when the UEFI method fails.

Let me know what happens after the CMOS clear and with fTPM disabled.

Cheers.

Andrzej
