PSU Tier List [OLD]

Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

going to get a new power supply to replace my exploding box of a 600b (Evga 600b)

gtx 1070 +225 core, +550 mem

2x cpu fans

at max, 3x hdd, 1x odd, 3x ssd (currently 2x hdd, 1x odd and 2x ssd)

dont give a shit about noise

keep it as cheap as possible for a great power supply (sorta care about the efficiency rating, but not enough to pay a premium for platinum (but wont go bronze)

i've narrowed it down to these already:

could always try to track down an old RM on the cheap, although i dont think RM folks are gonna sell their PSUs on any time soon :D (i dont quite remember the details, but the old RMs got kicked down a step on the list over some trivial thing that "should have been there" but wasnt.)

piece of advice: if the fan doesnt spin on max load, turn the psu fan side up, it helps passively exhausting heat.

Just wondering. I I've found the Cooler Master B700 V2 at a very reasonable price and can't find it on the list. Anyone know if its good quality? Thinking of running a i7 950 and either GTX 460 SLI or a HD7700.

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600WRampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda.

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.

@STRMfrmXMN can you recommend a decent but cheap psu for running an i5 6400 and a R9 390 (possibly x). I would use a 450-500w psu but the r9 390 draws a lot of power apparently so i want the seasonic s12ii 620w but it is still a bit too expensive. Would the antec VP700p be any good? preferably under £65

It is on there, tier 6 IIRC.

Don't, it is a piece of shit. If you want to SLI, I would look at the EVGA B2, Corsair CX750 or CS750

I'd pass on it. Also why SLI two 460s? They're old and hardly usable nowadays for most any game.

If you can afford a system like that then I'd assume a $50 PSU isn't that drastic a purchase, am I right in saying? The 620W S12 is $50 on Amazon the last time I checked and is the minimum I'd probably go, although the 520W is like $5 cheaper if you're really strapped for cash.

its a used 390 (the total system should be no more than £550. That psu is nearly £70 here, and the corsair csm 650 is the same price

I saw someone linked a Deepcool 550W something on your other thread. That's an OK PSU and should work for you.

Corsair CX450M

Superflower Platinum King

Antec True power classic

If I remember correctly, did I not already give you the same 3 PSUs recommendations?

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Well...it doesn't really but you just won't have any headroom at all :P

Eh, with an i5 6400 you'd be fine but it wouldn't be a bad idea to up the wattage a bit. I'd get the Deepcool PSU that's based on the CWT PUQ-B iirc
