Chris Evans has QUIT Top Gear!

What do you think?

I really didn't like him and I'm glad he's quit, but fair play to him for having the humility to step down.

I wont miss him. Even if he was being himself, he just seemed too much of a Clarkson wannabe, but with an extremely annoying voice. The other presenters are ok in their own way, but I'm not convinced the ingredients are there to make a screen chemistry like the old trio. I'm also not convinced that keeping largely the same formula is a good idea, and they could/should have tried something more different.

I dont like Chris Evans, but I was not expecting that. I guess all negative press has got to him.

I just hope next series BBC makes makes Chris Harris, Rory Reid and Matt LeBlanc the main presenters. Don't think Eddie Jordon or Sabine has added anything to the presenting, no need for them.

I shall now await Grand Tour featuring Clarkson, Hammond and the Old Lady (nickname Clarkson given to James May on twitter)

he had a good run but it's fair play to step down. as far as who can replace him... there are a couple of good candidates.

the problem with chris harris becoming the host is that he's a little too technical. the segments he has done in the main show are great, mind you, but only because he acted in a script. something like the online series he was faithfully given and heavily resembles his Youtube series. and if you've watched the alfa romeo bit that came out on the TG website, he is way too technical for the general TG audience.

I genuinely don't think he's as bad as everyone says.

I also think everyone should have given the show more of a chance. It takes more than one season of a show to develop chemistry.

That said, Matt LeBlanc made his dissent clear and declared it was either him or Chris that leaves...and Chris took him up on that.

Oh well. We'll see what happens later.

Well, good, from all of them he was the worst soo i'm happy with this.

He tried to be too exited and the show didn't feel natural but oh well... Let's hope September brings some nice stuff on television.

Couldn't agree more.

I kinda feel bad for him though. He tried so hard to make it work.

I honestly think they fired him and just let him make it look like he's taking the high road... it's better for BBC and for Evans like this.

She doesn't appear all that much, but she's decently good. Better than Evans, anyway.

There was an article I read later saying that the new top gear was just a bad copy of the previous one and I agree. There's not much new and improved whilst there's a lot of stuff they're doing much worse on

I remember her being pretty entertaining in the Nuremberg van episode. A funny cast they choose.

Top Gear is doomed to fail obviously.

If Clarkson Hammon and May would sign a contract by any other large television station, then top gear will be over.

BBC simply made the biggest mistake in history.

And they know it.

I don't think the BBC made any mistake with Clarkson. Let's not forget the events leading to his non-return, that was a major cockup even by Clarkson standards. The problem always was that Clarkson doesn't hold back on what he says, and a risk adverse organisation like the BBC simply can't handle that.

Arguably the mistakes are post-Clarkson. What do they do with Top Gear? They obviously haven't found the answer in Chris, but I don't think they've given up trying. I don't know how long they'll try... in my opinion the biggest problem was carrying on "business as normal", when clearly it wasn't. I still think they need to be brave and more radically shake things up, and turn it into something new.

Well i think that the BBC has simply thought that they should continue with the succes formule they had.

But the problem is that a presentor pretty much makes a program to a succes formule that it has became.

If you take that vital element out, the whole formule wont work anymore.

They indeed had to come with a totaly diffrent setup.

But i´m not sure if they have the creativity to do that honnestly.
