Funny it's the people that are dumb enough to gamble all their money that are the ones complaining, you have any common sense you'd know gambling is a loosing game, few win many loose, why would they just give you free money? Yeah, it sounds like a cash grab but the point still stands. Valve knows about the issue with underage gambling, and they're profiting from it (15% tax on market transaction). The case has a solid chance, or would if the essay wasn't written like an 18 year old's English Final.

My inventory, I care about my expensive skins because of how rare and unique they are, plus I play the game every day, you'd bet your ass that having nice shit to look at while playing is much better and more enjoyable than nothing at all.

Yeah, but mainly in RPG games or MMO it makes more sense for different look, less in fps. Like you even look at weapon while you play, or others pay attention to it. 

Good thing if you won some rare wanted skin you can sell it for real money. 

Heck, you could skin models yourself before how ever you want, for free. While CSGO is newer and online you can't then.

Most of skins I saw from everyone are so overrated and not even close worth of price. Many look childish too. Those spending hundreds or thousands on skins better make it worth it in a reselling way and earn money from trading. Otherwise it's stupid, no matter how rich person is.

Ones you have, there are those I like, mainly ones that are not too color saturated. Not bashing people who buy dozen skins for reasonable price. But some out there, just can't believe it.

I usually use murdered out model for weapons. I also tend to hide weapon model sometimes so I have clear screen.

Yeah, it sounds like a cash grab but the point still stands. Valve knows about the issue with underage gambling, and they're profiting from it (15% tax on market transaction). The case has a solid chance, or would if the essay wasn't written like an 18 year old's English Final.

 

 they give skins and the cases for free if you want to open a case you purchase a key to do so or you can just sell all the free drops on the marketplace and use that to eventually get what you want

I give you that valve is not liable and they are not responsible for what people do with the skins they buy or earn. But they don't do anything to battle this kinda of thing, implement systems to prevent minors from gambling. 
Look at it like this, all the CS GO tournaments are PG and you are not allowed to swear because a lot of minors are watching, on the other hand the a lot of pros who play in those evens gamble a lot on streams.
All I'm saying is valve is responsible to certain degree and far from Innocent when they don't addressee this issue. Making ads discouraging this kinda of behavior with the help of pros is very easy thing to do but when they take cut from every skin why should they ?.

Correct. A knife skin is just that. A skin that changes what your knife looks like. CS:GO is pretty much a 100% skill game, so they would never add pay-to-win features like gun skins that make your weapons more powerful. That would be silly, anyways.

 

Skins go up in price based on rarity and how many people want them. "Covert" (the rarest obtainable skins) are usually the most expensive, going up into the $200s for StatTrak Factory New models. Less rare skins like "Mil-Spec" (the most common skins from cases) are a whole lot cheaper, ranging from ~$.07 to $20 or so for the older skins. 

 

The market is entirely community-driven. Skins are priced by people, not Valve. Some skins are even "worth" $14k and up. It's all about how much people will pay to get fancy skins.

That is just ridiculous.  Seriously, haha.  But as you said, it's worth what someone will pay.  I remember walking into Neiman Marcus in San Francisco and seeing all the price tags.  It's a joke among my wife and I that when we can shop there we'll know we have too much money.

Remember- even ugly knife skins (I mean UGLY) are worth over $60 just because they're so rare to get. Anything is as expensive as people will pay- look at trading card games and the like. The most expensive Magic: The Gathering card is worth thousands. Pokemon is similar. I myself buy gun skins, my inventory is worth 46.6 €. My friend's inventory is worth 7459.97 €. (I used a calculator website that uses Euro instead of USD but whatever.)

 

Now, I didn't actually spend 46 Euro to get my inventory, CS:GO has a RNG reward system that gives items to randomly chosen people at the end of each game. Once, I got a $11.00 item (FOR FREE.) A few weeks before, I had gotten a $16 item (ALSO FOR FREE.) The stuff you get for free adds up eventually. I did buy a lot of my skins with my own money, but lots of them were also free.

So your friend is a fashonista, or he won them randomly?

I understand that it is supply and demand, I just don't understand the demand.  I've never cared what the gun skin looks like, or knife or whatever.  Spending money on it just seems...well, it's not something I would get enjoyment out of.  To each their own, as always.
