RX 460 benchmarks have been leaked

So as you might know, AMD recently showed their "1080p gaming" and "Esports card" (470/460), but we didn't know the benchmarks. We have seen earlier the RX 470 benchmarks, but what about the 460?

I just realized, 460 performs like 960, 470 like 970 and 480 like 980. AMD seems to be going after now old NV naming scheme. Sort of.

Those tests are pretty old, yet wccf are making a sensation over it. We don't even know if this is indeed a RX 460.

We're dropping the process in half. Look aback at history, the 5870 performed better than 4870 CF, 580 performed better than 5870 CF, 7970 was near double the performance of a 6970

I think you mean 4xx

Also AMD is so fucking bad at naming schemes they were bound to end up with one that's unintentionally accurate and straight forward.

Yeah I do. My bad, on phone. I don't think NV is any better if we're gonna be honest (I still remember the 4 digit scheme they had), but the 3 digit one is good I agree. Reminds me of BMW.  Still both are more straight forward than what Intel has.

As expected, 50 watts for a performance of a R9-270. Pretty good if this card cost <$100.

Problem is the "old" GTX950 75 watts is already on similar performance and just consumed slightly more power so expect 1050 to be more powerful than this one.

Last year, I packed away my longest-serving GPU, the GTX 470 for good. It had, for 5 years, given me great performance and even runs Star Citizen today with 35-45 FPS on low. The GTX 760 I "upgraded" to conversely only lasted 3 months before I kicked it out as I was immediately disappointed with it.

 

This new generation of cards are the "GTX 470s" of the future. Well, I'm not confident in Pascal due to its only 1 shader pipeline compared to AMD's 8, but Volta should surely be a DX12 powerhouse like this year's AMD cards will be.

 

So for the people with long upgrade cycles who've been waiting for a REAL upgrade and aren't among the crowd buying new GPUs every year, this year and next will be full of options.

Well the 290X did consistently kill the original $1k titan at launch once you raised the reference fan speeds a tad  and beat out the slightly more expensive 780 as well so no it doesn't happen to every AMD launch as they hit their goal of being a titan killer

He is probably referring to bad Fury X start since everyone expected it to destroy 980Ti, as well as a 380X which needed a bit of driver update to becomd what it was supposed to be. So basically like every recent AMD card.
