Alright everyone. This has been fun, but here's my final word on the subject:

 

If someone is offended by the use of the word "homo" in this context (or any context) then it's a matter of weighing my options.

 

Option #1 is keep doing it anyway. This will be minimal effort for me, and has no measurable effect on me, but it will make others upset.

 

Option #2 is to stop using the word. This will be minimal effort for me, and has no measurable effect on me, but it will make others happy.

 

 

So I think the choice here is obvious. Where it's your personal belief that someone is "too sensitive", if it's no work and has no effect on you to discontinue the offensive behavior, then why not do it? I'm locking this down now, and I appreciate everyone's participation. I really do value community feedback and it's great that everyone stepped up to help me better understand the direction I need to go :)
