So fucking incompetent.

AMD always did crazy PR agains NVIDIA. Remember when R9 290(x) was releasing and they were trying to get people from NVIDIA official event to their hidden private AMD event on the other side of the street?

They are suddenly very quiet. Either they are very confident that when they reveal their cards it will blow our minds and then they can be like "HA! Try to troll us now!" or they are simply keeping their mouth shut to not get any bad PR accidentaly like when they said that Fury will be overclockers dream but it turned out to not be like that in reality.

It's too bad they had that "reference PCB only" nonsense for the Fury X. The Sapphire Nitro Fury has a custom PCB and overclocks so nicely compared to other Fiji cards.

Does the Sapphire Fury overclock well?

I've only heard that the Fury cards have been bad overclockers, or thanks to HBM1.

Yes. One of the review sites got 1200mhz on air. User reviews from newegg seem to be inline with mentions of 1180mhz overclocks. Tri X and other reference PCB cards didn't do so well but they stayed relatively cool because of the big ass heatsinks.

Hey, that's pretty good.

I don't know where i heard Fury cards didn't overclock well, i think it was only when they first came out.

Reference Fury cards didn't do so well. At the start when most of the furys were reference. OC's were at the 1100mhz range.

The nitro one specifically. The trixxx model uses a reference pcb and is just as bad other fiji cards.

Oh of course I would. Hence why I stated that AMD likely feels very exasperated. Pretty much every time they are about to launch a product (even ones that turn out to be freaking kickass), they still constantly get tons of negative rumours.

I'm not surprised AMD had to do this. This doesn't stink of desperation, more like exasperation.

Assuming AMD is on the level, and they're on track for a great launch in a few weeks, then they must be getting so frustrated by all the false and misleading rumours pointing to AMD's doom.

And honestly, there are tons on this forum jumping on that train.

We only have a LITTLE BIT LONGER to wait. Let's save the "AMD IS AWESOME" and "AMD IS DYING" shit for after Computex.

Can you elaborate why the "1080 sucks"? Aside from the price tag, that is.

Why does the price tag suck?

It's cheaper than the 980 ti launched for, and only 50$ more than the 980 launched for, and it's "supposed" to be substantially faster.

But that doesn't have the reach of say, like Nvidias omnipresence when it comes to PR (to the point that this forum is being spammed with 234234234 new Pascal-purchase topics everyday even though the cards aren't properly reviewed yet, hypeculture sucks but it's everywhere). AMD has the engineering knowledge and very good hardware, if their PR department was just as strong as the engineering department they'd have a way bigger market share. They don't have to do the borderline obnoxious Nvidia stuff (the only thing missing from the Pascal event was a personal BJ by Mr. Bikerjacket for every influencer attending the event to round the whole pampering up), but comon, some more effort (quality and outreach) and the future for us consumers and GPU market could look a lot more rosy.

GOOD GAME AMD. YOU PLAYED YOURSELVES. Once again.... Why do I even hope for AMD? If their high end Vega cards are releasing in the end of the year no one is gonna care at best they'll match nvidia performance and then what? Everyone would've bought pascal already.... Most people will buy the 1070 or 1080... You shouldve been faster AMD

But how can you make such a statement about the performance of a product that no reviewer has their hands on yet?

I'm sure there's more. They have the product, they're just not allowed to say anything about them yet other than "I have a GTX 1080." nVidia has really, really hyped up this release- you think they wouldn't give review samples to Tech YouTubers prior to launch?

I would say a counter-argument isn't actually needed, considering the "points" you put forward in your previous post.

That meme will do for now. At least you laughed.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

So fucking incompetent.

I'd rather spend the time and/or money on perfecting Polaris and Vega than stirring up hype, considering the financial situation they are at now, and how close to their stated release date they are.

That Polaris 11 demo is as close as you'd get without spilling all the beans about Polaris itself. Maybe they're hiding information in order to not give Nvidia enough time to counter an (hopefully) amazing Polaris launch? Bear in mind, neither card(s) is actually out into the market, so nothing is set in stone yet.

But yeah, I will admit, their marketing is frankly laughable, but I'm sure they are doing something behind the doors. Hopefully it pays off.

One thing to bear in mind, is that a glowing AT/LTT/Toms review about your card(s) is pretty much all that it takes to turn the tables, so I'm not too concerned about missing Polaris teasers and whatnot.

While one possibility could be that they have encountered problems (anywhere from minor setback to a FUBAR of epic proportions) and they are keeping quiet, their recent debunking is a good indication they are on track.

So yeah, lots of possibilities still! We'll just have to wait and see. :D

That'd be a nice thing for a change, but given their track record they'll use it on a stupid, pointless APU.

Though I hope I'm wrong and they turn things around with Zen.

LOL, I remember the insane hype that they brought with Kaveri. That was a massive flop. I hope they learned their lessons.

But typically, their desktop GPU releases are free from pointless hype. ;)

JayZTwoCents, HWC, probably Linus too, has a 1080. The embargo lifts at the 18 or 20th? i think. So they are already haulin ass to bench all the hardware.

Yep if Polaris is nice I might get one instead of a 1070, mainly because a major flaw I'm finding: I'm trying to find gsync monitors and they're significantly rare to ship here AND quite more fucking expensive than Freesync.
