AMD Debunks negative rumors

There's been quite a few negative things being spread about AMD based upon false information, from unverifiable sources. It seems that it's all bullshit.

Since the reveal of NVIDIA’s latest enthusiast graphics range, there have been numerous negative articles surrounding AMD which stems from unverified sources. We’ve reported on some of these in a similar vein to other media outlets but it’s always important to adopt a sceptical approach whenever information is leaked. As a result, the coverage we previously posted was incorrect and we’ve received clarification from AMD’s Northern Europe PR and Community Manager, Joe Cowell about a number of recent criticisms. Firstly, AMD will be attending Computex and this was never in doubt. It’s important to remember that AMD always lists their attendance for trade shows in a clear and transparent manner. Secondly, there are no production issues whatsoever with Polaris and it’s on schedule.  This means our report suggesting AIB partners were unhappy with AMD is completely false and based on incorrect sources. Therefore, we were wrong in disclosing this information and wish to clarify the real truth after receiving an official word from AMD.
 

So what does this all mean? Well, AMD isn’t struggling to produce quick driver updates, the Polaris architecture or failing to attend Computex. Also, their Q1 financial results were actually better than most analysts predicted. Therefore, any claims predicting their future demise are completely inaccurate. Of course, the Q1 financials are going to be poor when they’re preparing product launches later in the year for both the graphics and CPU segments. Hopefully, this clarification helped to quash the rumours being published right now, and we openly admit our original articles were wrong.

What about moving up the launch of Vega to compete with nvidia?  That's a rumour... what do they say about that? :P

Damage control imo. I have no dog in the team red/team green debacle, but it's fairly rare to see a big company come out and essentially write an itemized list of grievances like that. There's usually fire where smoke is pouring out of, and this statement from AMD doesn't really do anything to turn on the hose. Proof's in the pudding and surely some of the items on the list are incorrect, but color me skeptical until we actually see Polaris hit production.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

I don't see much trouble with AMD's Polaris 10.

I'm expecting Fury performance or above.

We already know that in Hitman on 1440p it holds a steady 60fps on DX12.

 

While that doesn't tell us whether it will be better than a 1070 (which i hear is doing near 980ti performance) it does tell us that if it's priced reasonably cheaper than a 1070 (i keep hearing 480/480x? Where i hear Vega 11 will be the 490/490x), it will absolutely be the better buy.

Okay before I start on this news-item, I really need to state that this is based on a vague rumor, nothing has been confirmed or denied otherwise. Here's the story, some reports say Polaris 10 can't hit 850 MHz reliably and that availability will be pushed back to October. I sincerely hope the rumor is not true.

The news arrived through Nordic Hardware saying that AMD's partners "won't have any new cards to display at Computex and the only Polaris cards promoted to them from AMD are R9 390/390X performance class but for a mid-range price. Reports say Polaris 10 can't hit 850 MHz reliably, whereas Nvidia already demoed the 2000 MHz marker with their GPUs.

A board partner response seem to be "as of now, no information".

Rumor indicates that this info is backed by a rather large AMD partner, that there will be no Polaris-based video cards from AMD partners at Computex. That means no Polaris on Computex and no availability of the cards shortly thereafter (if this is true).

Assuming AMD is on the level, and they're on track for a great launch in a few weeks, then they must be getting so frustrated by all the false and misleading rumours pointing to AMD's doom.
