What is the most disappointing thing you have ever heard from young PC builders?

Lolucoca

Do I need 1000gb of ram for my gaming pc?

And I have also herd this, " my gaming pc is, and i3 4170, 1gb of ram, some old dell mobo, and not graphics card. I'm going to play some CSGO."

Duh_Tech

I am a computer and aviation enthusiast. I have a good enough PC.

I'm expecting in future:

You didn't have quantum computers?

You had only 4 threads?

An 8TB hard drive was the best on market?

It took hours to download, burn, and install Windows?

How could you live like that?

This isn't anything a young person has said, but my friend has an i7-4770k and a GTX 960 2GB and plays mostly Rust and Minecraft. The most intensive game he owns is Battlefield 4.

Does he do any creative work?

I own a 4790k with a 960. The only game I really play is CSGO which isn't demanding so I wanted a powerful processor and a cheap CUDA card for video work.

My friend does surveys to get Dogecoins (He's addicted to doges) and I'm like 'Why don't you mine? They're easy to mine and it wouldn't take as long as surveys. Him: 'Makes my PC to hot'. Legit answer until I see him running Folding on max xD

  • 2 weeks later...

Of course it's not like the Marketing and Sales part of the PC industry tries to keep everything easy to understand for the average Joe either. I mean video card naming schemes are all over the place with old chips being renamed  and OEM parts being whatever is left over after Christmas named as whatever the latest series is.

My DDR4 2400 can also be called PC4 19200 but actually runs at 1200 MHz  I/O bus from a 300 MHz Memory clock.  Not always easy to understand.

There are other  examples but I push the TL:DR

I really depends on the game, and it was the i7 quad at 3.4 ghz (boost) and 2.6ghz (stock)

I know they would be similar if my i5 was at stock, but the i7 would come nowhere near "crushing" the i5

Mobile i7s (quads) are essentially Xeon E3 1231v3s or higher - trust me, you're not beaintg it in MC scenarios with an i5 - no way
