Do the Gtx 960 keep being a good Gpu to play most of the games in 1080P 60Hz?

T-Aero

most games if you tweak the settings will run 60fps at 1080p sure.

The 380 still costs the same and performs all around better, but that's besides the point.

Depends on the game and used settings. It isn't a bad card. But I would highly suggest you get a 380, biggest reason would be 4gb vs 2gb vram

grab a 380 or even a 380x if you can stretch

Yeah, its pretty good for 1080p, but you wont be able to max everything at will, especially in more demanding games like witcher 3...

The general consensus on the forum is that you should go with a r9 380 if you can find it for the same price, as they perform a tad bit better, and have more vram.

An R9 380 is around 15% better and usually cheaper.
A 380X is 25% better and usually slightly more expensive

Unless you are using AutoCAD then OpenCL will do just as good and a 380X has double the stream processors of a 960

Well if you really need the cuda cores then I guess the 4gb 960 is the better option. Whether or not you really need the cuda cores is up to you to research and decide

It all boils down to software optimization and/or architecture. Saying "Cuda cores are better" without giving a reason is like saying "EA is the best"

And yet another topic where someone asks for a 960 and gets recommended a 380.

This isn't at all an echo chamber, noooo.

If you can dig up the data that supports the 960, i will be happy to change my opinion. But the fact is that the 380 is both faster, and is about the same price. The 380x is much faster and only cost 10-15% more. Though the pricing may depend on which country you reside.

But most of the time cuda is best, but the cores are more expensive , now, Stream processor are worst, but cheaper .

Except when new games release, and months afterwards. Yes the hardware is faster, I won't deny that. But lots of games struggle on AMD hardware these days on launch due to crap drivers, and not only "gimpworks" titles. And not all of them get 'fixed'.

It's at the very least something to take into consideration.

Either provide a source or real head-to-head comparison between the two on even terms (none exist) or stop generalizing a GPU architecture without knowing what you are talking about. Cheaper? How? Source? Do you have an internal information on the raw materials and production costs?
