Deepcool's new Liquid Cooled PSU - CES 2016

I don't like that it's built by CWT. They have some decent PSUs, but I think anyone who has a custom loop should also use a top-tier PSU.

CWT is damn good if they put their effort in, and not just decent. RMi series for example.

but to give them some credit... this is DeepCool... and they've rolled out some good PSUs already (i.e. their DQ series)... just not that much market penetration...

Don't see the need for this, honestly. PSU's are getting more and more efficient and cooler running (semi passive). Seems quite redundant and just something extra to go wrong, IMO.

I am kinda interested to see the guts or a general layout of the inside of it compared to others. But as for cost for function compared to normal PSU, I go with normal PSU all day.

Is there any benefit to this besides low temperatures? What does this mean for us to liquid cool it? Are there any incentives to go this route versus a traditional air-cooled unit?

For me, all are No though Deepcool may state otherwise. Personally to me it's more or less bragging rights and to confused all our non techy piers.

I can't see any reason for this to exist. If it fails, then it just becomes even more catastrophic and will probably take out more than just your rig.

I was thinking about it possibly affording a way to increase amperage on a power supply. Then again, the higher the amperage, and then having a leak....I don't know.

To me this seems like a great idea but poor execution. It should really have more wattage and shouldn't use quick disconnects. I'm not too worried about this leaking and being a hazard since it looks like they did a good job of isolating pixies from the acqua.

It should allow a more dese design what means more watts / cm^3. But that's only nice for very smal form factor builds and the space needed for custom liquid cooling is not very feasibel for this types of builds.

Also Silverstone has already some very smal but powerful PSUs.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

The rating just states the efficiency, not how good the quality of the psu is.

As @ICantThinkOfAnyGoodName stated that is only how efficient the PSU is in the conversion of AC power to DC power. That doesn't have anything to do with quality. You can buy an 80+ titanium PSU from a garbage manufacturer that will die before you have an 80+ PSU die from a good manufacturer.
