I've been reading the site and I was planning on getting the AMD 8350 but not sure now. My budge for the cpu is around 220$ are there any other cpus from any source that you guys would recommend?

For CPU alone 220 dollars? I would go for an i5 4460 if I were you.

If you live near a Microcenter, I believe they now have a deal for an i5 4690K for 180 dollars.

For 235$ You can get the 4690K which wipes Its ass with the 8350 when It comes to single core performance. For 180$ you can get the 4460 which also wipes Its ass with the 8350 at single core performance. DAMMIT AMD, UPDATE YOUR CPU's! we are waiting for Zen

Xeon is more expensive than a 8350 and isn't necessarily the same value but if the budget allows yes.

4460 or 4690k more expensive though

In the U.S., an i5-4460 is about $10 more than an FX-8350, which is more than worth it.

There's also the Core i3's, which (at least the Haswell and Skylake versions) are faster in most tasks than an FX-8350 and only around $125–$150.

fixed, 4690k does better on x264, which is the most common format for video at the moment.

Rendering sure, idk what the fuck you would render though.

It's like 3 months before AMD releases the new Excavator FX line. I know it's not zen yet but it'll be a full 2-generation leap for their enthusiast platform. That should put them back in the running at least against the i5. For now though, for anything except heavily threaded workloads on a budget only Intel can be recommended.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
