I bought 2 lifetime hexos licenses on day 1 cause I knew I'd want it someday, and that I'd want to give one to a family member across the globe someday.

I want immich as I'm at 98% usage on google one (been paying £1.59/mo for 35 months), I understand it runs best on linux.

I only have 1 PC, and I switched it to mint last weekend.

Can I run immich directly on this linux mint PC for now and just have my phone auto-backup whenever my PC is on, and then one day when I'm rich I can buy some hard drives and shove a NAS under the stairs with HexOS to be on 24/7 so that I may access images not local on my phone at any time? I have read suggestions of running HexOS and just have the Linux Mint as a VM, could I do it the other way round? have HexOS VM that I boot up to backup phone?

Can I have HexOS running on this machine as a dual-boot and just boot into hexos, wait for phone to backup, reboot to linux? on shared hardware?

Is there somewhere all these answers are already written that I should stop being an idiot and go rtfm?

You'd be better off just running whatever services you want, whether its immich or other things, in a docker container and calling it a day

Then just leave your system on
