NVIDIA GeForce Driver 361.43 Released

Mr_Troll

A new NVIDIA driver is now available for everyone to download and install, either via GeForce Experience or the official website. This is the GeForce 361.43 WHQL release, though it’s less exciting than your usual GameReady driver: it’s late December now and with no game releases in sight, there’s no big optimization for games.

Still, here’s the official changelog of the latest NVIDIA driver.

NVIDIA continues to work closely with VR headset and game developers to deliver amazing VR games and applications. This Game Ready driver includes the latest GameWorks VR tweaks, bug fixes, and optimizations to ensure you have the ultimate VR gaming experience.

Gaming Technology

  • Support added for GameWorks VR 1.1 including VR SLI support for OpenGL applications and support for the latest Oculus SDK

Fixes

  • [GM20x] Clock speeds remain above idle at 144 Hz on desktop.
  • Lag in Star Wars Battlefront with SLI enabled after updating to driver 359.06.
  • Momentary loss of signal after scoring first goal in Rocket League
  • Game crashes on certain GeForce GTX 860M notebooks

Fermi GPU Changes

  • As of Windows 10 November Update, Fermi GPUs now use WDDM 2.0 in single GPU configurations.

For multi-GPU configurations, WDDM usage is as follows:

  • In non-SLI multi-GPU configurations, Fermi GPUs use WDDM 2.0. This includes configurations where a Fermi GPU is used with Kepler or Maxwell GPUs.In SLI mode, Fermi GPUs still use WDDM 1.3.

The next major NVIDIA driver release will probably hit between late January and early February 2016, when many games are scheduled to be launched on PC.

WTF. Fermi bug fixes?. Thought NV stopped supporting old architectures

WTF. Fermi bug fixes?. Thought NV stopped supporting old architectures

They stopped supporting the GTX100 and 200 series... (maybe 400 to, i cant remember)

That means they stop making new drivers for them

For the 700 series they still support those cards with drivers, they just dont optimize the drivers for those GPUs they optimize the drivers for the 900 series

That doesn't mean that they just let everything get broken and stop working for users...

It just means that the latest driver release wont boost performance in the most recent games

361.43

the most notable change is the clocks will stay IDLE when connected to monitors at and below 144Hz, in 2D mode - but only for W10 and W8, and not W7 !?!?

Alright! :)

I'll let you know the status, once my friend update the driver.

Finally a bug fix that takes care of the GPU over-idle issue at 144hz on desktop. I've been running at 120hz to avoid this. Have to give it a shot on my GTX 980 when I get home.

Not really. Its just helpful, as most will not check nvidia experience for drivers.

Funny side note: Users complain for years and

nothing happens. PCPER makes some measurements, PR notice it, it is fixed with the next driver update.

I will test it today with my GTX 980 too.

EDIT: It's not fixed for me either. Even if I unplug my second monitor, the GPU "idles" at 1013 MHz. So I will go back to 120 Hz in desktop.

Idle usage definitely not fixed for me either. 924Mhz on the core continuous and memory at full clock as well (1752Mhz). 24% of TDP draw just to sit on the desktop.
