Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

My dad is an I.T. engineer, soooo... :P

For someone who is thoroughly non-techie (case being, my mom) I'd go for something easy to use and yet as functional as possible, good headphones (like the Sennheiser HD 598) for example, or a mechanical keyboard. Neither of which requires any more know-how than it takes to plug a single cable in and still deliver great performance.

Wow great giveaway!

I would to be able to give my dad a smart watch! I think the LG Urbane would be his style, he loves my Pebble's functionality, but thats not how he rolls haha.

http://amzn.com/B00WK2FG96  (International version please, UK here :) )

He's a driving instructor and told me he would love to be able to quickly dismiss calls and see messages without getting his phone out during lessons!

Thanks LMG

I would get my dad some Jaybirds, he's still using several years old earbuds that are way past their time. He cycles a long distance to work and plays a lot of basketball so some good wireless earbuds would probably make him happy.

I noticed that my mother paid for 50GB surfin in her phone which she only used for calls. I bought a tablet to her which shared the Internet with phone. Her computer was so slow that it could not be used. This year I thought to continue giving her technical gadgets because I know that she finds it hard to be so far behind when it comes to technology. My idea is to buy both, as they are so inexpensive, Chromecast and Chromecast audio. Given that they work the same way I just need to teach her how Chromecast works in general. She will then be able to stream the shows from Netflix and use Spotify without starting the computer, ie, using the tablet.

Can not find Chromecast on amazon.com. Guess I'm disqualified from the competition then. Stupid amazon .... :(

I would get Sony Home theater system for my parents, because they watch movies from USB (yeah i know stone age technology). And they use TV speakers which are so bad  that when i come back to my parents home for holidays, i cant watch any movie because of sound to mute and quality..  Jeez and they keep rambling that is  fine and they don't want to waste any money for better sound. I bet you can feel my pain Linus (chukle). And yeah they could stream movies from PC so no USB and use Netflix for shows.  This would be perfect :)

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

My dad one day for my birthday gifted me a watch, my first watch, after some time i lost it and he was mad because that was an expensive watch,

so i wanted to gift him a watch to forgive me about that time.

He's not a tech fan but with this gift he could become one.

Thanks for your tips on tech stuff, helped me a lot with my setup, and Good Luck to everyone who joined the giveaway.  :)

My mom has been surfing the web using an old small tablet and it took months to teach her how and I've been thinking about buying her a cheap laptop/chromebook so it's easier and faster for her to explore the web. Any good cheap laptop would do the job but I choose this one cause it looks nice.

I'd get my little sister (14) this laptop as she needs one for schoolwork and web browsing. The laptop she has now can barely run two programs at once so it is essentially useless to her. Our parents bought it two years ao\go but they thought they'd get a laptop with a touch screen instead of something that can actually run chrome.

I'd get my parents a Nest thermostat. They're the type to cut off the AC/heat when they're going to be out of the house for a while. Plus I've shown them home automation stuff and, even though theyre not super big techies, thought the concept as a whole was pretty neat

So, my dad and I have laptops and know how to use them fairly well. We watch media (like Linus media :D) and text edits and run basic tasks. However my mom doesn't. She doesn't have a good computer like me and my dad. All she really ever does on one of our computers or someone else's is load webpages and browse the web. So I would like to give her the Intel compute stick, it's 150$ us on Amazon. I know like did a video on it a while back but know it comes with Windows 10. I think this would be a great PC for basic tasks.
