Found a 480. What should I do with it?

gabe927

So I was looking at the closet full of stuff during one of my high school robotics team meetings, and I found a GTX 480.  What do you think I should do with it?

Give it to me.

I guess you could make a server and experiment with it or something

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

Does it work? If so you can maybe use it for Folding @ home. Or you can do what Fate said and display it on a stand or hang it on your wall.

F@H would make that 480 into a nice space heater... use it with an AMD rig for best results...

Srlsy tho you could use it for Folding, sell it on eBay/Craigslist, or build an older gaming PC with something like a q6600.

I called it last, therefore we must split it.

"The first and the last."

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

these things are as hot as an r9 290 / titan x

they make for a good dirt cheap 1080p gaming card though :-)

the reference cards look badass. complete with finger scorching exposed heatsink surface.

what to do with it? sell it on ebay for $1,000

Got another idea!

Turn it into belt buckle, so when your friend show off their spideymen, supperman, and bogman, you show them your GTX480 and they be all jelly.

Extra jelly points, if you can manage to hook the fan up to a battery bank or something and turn it on.

Some other idea from Nvidia themselves. :P
