Would you buy an Apple desktop if...

Apple wants to enter the gaming market... now here is a question for you:

Would you purchase an Apple gaming desktop that cost $800 but performed like a $1200 regular desktop?

(Imaging if OSX had all games, and it were to be priced like this. It's a theoretical question.)

I'd say no because I am not a fan of OSX, and don't care for their "clean" style.
Bootcamp is lame in my opinion. I also like my freedom.

I'd prefer to build my own you know? Make it mine!

No I don't like Apple products. I don't like them as a company either and don't like their OS.

Most people wouldn't..unless they were already APPLE people.

The more you use it, the more you get used to it, like anything...

But I'm not one of those, cos I have no need to get one, I'll stick with my Windows gaming rig.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I use both...so I am fimilar~ish with OS X Yosemite

Now would I buy one....no, simply because I am never a fan of prebuilt system...

I much rather go through the trouble of hacking a bios of my motherboard and forcing OS X to work on my machines, which I have done..

I dunno I've been pretty accustomed to Windows but I guess it wouldn't hurt.

Heck, I'd buy a HP/Acer pre-built if it were priced $800 and performed like $1200.

But it would take a very long time for Mac OS to come near the amount of games the PC has.

I do love developing on OSX, but I use Linux now for that depending on the language.

For that price why not, just allow me to control upgrades (hardware) and drivers. That is my only request.

no because they'd likely find a way to solder the gpu in or something so you cannot upgrade it

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Debian is masterrace so OSX isn't for me. Also logistically it's impossible to sell a computer for $800 that performs like it's a $1200 computer, it just can't happen from many standpoints.

The only Macs I would get is the iMac G4 and G3. Why? Because the way the adjustable LCD arm is integrated in the G4 is something I dig, and the overhauling the G3 case with new hardware would be a great little project.
