What? I wouldn't try that. You'll have casing shapnal everywhere and a bullet flying in some unknown direction. Won't kill you but it may imbed in what ever is in its path.

I think you mean cartridge, but yes. It could go off, then it would separate into the case and the projectile. The primer could also come out of its seat as well.

nope, you are heating the cartridge causing it to explode because of heat, guns work differently and they have a barrel.

Yes it would, but without all of the energy, as much of it would escape around the projectile as there is no barrel to contain the energy.

yeah but in case of guns, if the gun is already hot as fuck it will prematurely ignite the projectile causing it to go off without triggering it, however I am not too sure if heated bullet will explode into single direction like a regular bullet fired out of a barrel or explode like a bomb.

Alright thank you guys for answering my question . So you guys may be thinking that I want to try it out but I have already done as a kid when I didn't knew bullets had gunpowder in it. I though that it was the gun that ejected the bullet. Long ago i did this. When it went off all I heard was a bang! Sound. To this day never found any fragments of it and neither the front part of it.

Check for holes in the ceiling. A bullet can come out with enough energy to embed itself in the wall, without a barrel.

there were not any hole. Nothing at all. My servant cleaned the kitchen but he too found nothing.

The bullet will go in a single direction, but the powder does not burn instantaneously, so only a small amount of it would be burned by the time the bullet left the case. Because of this much of the powder would be burned without actually having any effect on the bullet. The case would certainly be significantly deformed if not split, but the bullet would not fragment as it is being effected by significantly less energy than it would be if it was being fired from a gun. 

 

The cartridge would explode more like a bomb, but he bullet would still go in more or less the same direction.

It will go off. It won't "fire" like it would out of a gun. The casting and bullet will go flying. It won't fire the bullet and leave the casing. It's very dangerous and a bad idea.

The job of a barrel is to contain the gasses around the bullet and propel them in a single direction. A loose round would explode, but without any focused energy. Like a bomb
