Tell me more about how Microsoft cares about what porn you watch. Guess what, they don't.

Uh, yeah they do care. Wanna know why? So they can build a profile on you(your computer) and then sell that data off to server you ads tailored to what you've searched/viewed. They don't care what you do on your computer, but they do wanna know about it because they care about money and your information(porn viewing habits, search history, amazon purchases, whatever) is their gold mine whether you like/believe it or not.

Their Linux drivers are actually quite good, though not quite at the same state as Windows drivers. I'm using version 355.06 right now under Ubuntu Gnome (no Amazon BS) and I've noticed that the already absurdly high FPS in War Thunder Windows is even higher under War Thunder Linux (also with Linux and OSX you can play it off Intel HD 4000 graphics, unlike the Windows version. Windows=bloated and buggy POS).

To be fair towards Windows, Windows 7 is pretty bloated, especially after all those years of updates. Newer versions are much lighter, though (then again, they have to be.)

My take is Microsoft will be off the hook on this one until someone hears about NSA accessing these records or hackers gaining access.

like the NSA isn't already sifting through the data. NSA probably paid off Microsoft to put the data collection software in it

i wonder why businesses are not fighting this. if Microsoft is collecting all the data they want and allowed record your activities how many companies trade secrets are being hijacked onto Microsoft data collection servers

oooh i wonder if they  know whats in mcdonalds secret sauce?????

No, encryption does not work against this because it's in the OS itself. If you are worried about Microsoft harvesting your personal information then you should probably not use BitLocker either (Microsoft product, it sends your encryption key to Microsoft by default, closed source and might contain backdoors).

It's kind of scary how that video was a knee-jerk reaction to caller ID starting to become popular about 9 years ago. But since then we have slowly moved closer and closer to it being a reality.

While that is VERY true, the spying will NEVER end. As long as these companies keep the money rolling in they don't give two shits. It is not like all of the Windows user base is just going to jump onboard the Linux ship. Also, lets not forget about Google...

Just because the odds are against you, does not mean that you should just roll over. And don't be so sure about Linux. This Microsoft spying nonsense is exactly why I switched to Linux.

I really don't care about the whole spying thing. As long as it doesn't go too far I don't care.

Wasn't it only technical preview featuring this?

Also password would be utterly useless in such a file.

[Citation Needed] on the first and last one.

When I logged my laptop with all privacy settings on max I noticed things like whenever I typed in the start menu my computer connected to Microsoft. I never checked the webcam thing but yes it does record through your microphone, although that seems to actually get turned off as it should when you disable Cortana.

Never tested connecting any storage devices to my laptop so I can't comment on that.

I never noticed any keystrokes being logged though. I might have missed it (Windows 10 loves opening connections to Microsoft all the bloody time), it might not be in my version, or maybe it got disabled along with all the other stuff I disabled.

It is still in the "official" WIn10 versions

Can you explain how a password that only you should have would be useless to someone else you don't know and doesn't want you to know that are collecting it?

You are of the view that Microsoft will let you know they are logging your information out right, they hide it in "Windows Diagnostics"<------ when this collects information it collects all information relating to the issue which would include keystrokes and this is just one of the ways they collect the data. Data sync is another and Cortana, in order for Cortana to "function properly"  the following must happen....

"To enable Cortana to provide personalized experiences and relevant suggestions, Microsoft collects and uses various types of data, such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on your device.

Cortana also learns about you by collecting data about how you use your device and other Microsoft services, such as your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browse and Bing search history, and more.”

Read more on it here and i advise all who think paranoia has set in to read the updated Win10 Privacy statement as of 1st August.

Now i am sure this is not really something the company Microsoft wants but has no choice to do. The level of this "data collection" has to be some Government Intelligence group behind it.

This is correct, the keylogger doesn't exist in Windows 10. It's been removed. People continue to reference the Technical Preview privacy statement as being relevant for the release version.

They most certainly aren't hidding this fact. They have been very open in regards to it.

I dont care? If you have nothing to hide, its freedom of information.

Doesnt matter if you have nothing to hide you have a right to privacy. Now we all know Google, Microsoft etc already collect information thats old news but never dismiss your right to privacy by saying 'Nothing to hide sure snoop away' Would you like if people snooped through your letters that come in the mail? I suspect not.

I updated my post.

The way you know a password in a multitude of data is you look for repetitions of a word and or a number or grouping of words and or numbers and then link it to what service was accessed and it would be a high probability that is a password. That is a brief and basic explanation of how it is taught in Computer Forensics.

This is drastically complicated method, and isn't even close to other method in terms of "probability".

I doubt they would run those kind of algorithms.
