You practically say, that it doesn't matter what we do, because the earth will just die anyway.

That is true.

But we don't need another way to die apart from the sun that will kill us all sooner or later. The sun is already enough.

'we' wil not die from the sun. we will die out long before. however think of all the things the people would need to stop doing in order to stop abusing the planet.

That is what makes them even more challenging.

I got interested in hardware and tech because it can change a lot very quickly. It doesn't matter if it's a complex electric car or some simple solar panels. All that stuff gets me excited and I wish more people would keep pushing these kind of things.

-snip-

No matter how hard we try to save this planet, a inevitable point will occur where the sun will run out of Hydrogen and Obliterate out Planet.

Honestly that is such a poor way of seeing it. The sun will run out of hydrogen in a couple billion years. Think about it. The whole of human history only dates back 10 000 years. So from the time we made fire until we set foot on the moon is only a small fraction of the time it will take for the sun to burn out. Such a statement is irrelevant when you think of the timescales.

There is no point of thinking that the sun will run out when we can easily kill off our whole human civilization by not "saving" this planet. Hell an asteroid is statistically bound to hit within that time period that will wipe us out.

There is a lot of stuff you can not fill out on the form. Like for example we have solar panels that produce more than enough energy to provide electircity for the whole household and we can even sell some of the electiricity.

However the graph at the end showed me around 57% of my footprint is caused by food?

most likly the energy needed to transport and refrigerate the food - that is a big factor, I get most of my stuff from a farmer's market in town and I grow my own veg

Well, I only buy swiss food (at least when possible) and for meat I prefer to only eat beef from local farmers which held their cows outside on big plains. So energy needed for transportation shouldn't be that high.

EDIT:

Also switzerland is a very small country, when I buy something that is grown in switzerland it travels 100-200km max

thats pretty good, beef isnt the best in the aspect of its footprint since it takes alot more effort then fish or chicken

I think the footprint calculator is abit off - I would of thought i would be around 1.5 worlds

4.84 planets.

Provided I make it to the average age for males, I'm pretty confident that I'll witness the Nuclear WW3 caused by over population, dwindling resources and general assholery before I'm gone.
