Asus CFO passed away

Asus cfo David Chang has passed away today at age 50. Rumor said he may have died of being overworked as he was constantly on business trips and almost fainted during ces due to the lack of sleep. He joined asus in 1994, and became cfo in 2006. He was also a key player launching the asus zenfone. 50... that's too young... rip.

every year people die, but I understand your point, when it comes to important people

15 of my family members have passed away this year, compared to an average of 1 or less in previous years. Whether you are a tech game, a gaming fan, a motorsport fan, a photography fan. a camera fan and the list goes on. Big names have been taken away this year, while deaths are normal facts of life it always sucks

It'll happen in the not so distant future.  There're a variety of age defying treatments under test right now.  Some regarding telomeres, others regarding the use of stem cells(which they can create en masse from blood and some special form of acid).  I look forward to a future where every human being can live forever.  Sure children will be out-lawed or expensive at some point to deter people from having them and over-populating us.  Life'll always find a way.  But, I want a world where we can all live forever, and not have to succumb to age.  Probably cancer, and getting shot or starving, but not age.

CFO, CEO, Director and so on. There is a reason their pay is insanely high and a reason they get super ridiculous pay outs to leave (if they don;t die first).  They earnt the right to it by effectively dedicating their life to a company.

That would be a very bad idea. Death is not a good thing for us emotionally but it is part of nature for a reason. Earth simply couldn't sustain billions of people that never died and kept breeding.

All I can say is imagine if we still had Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, etc. How much more advanced could our civilization be with such great minds being able to continue adding to our understanding of the universe? That's why I think extending lifespans is a good idea. Maybe complete immortality would be a bad idea but being able to live for at least a millennia instead of about a century sounds awesome. And yes I am aware that there were medical problems here too since he died far too young but that could also be a thing of the past if we achieve better ways of treating "death"

Humans are creative and with great minds being able to work on solutions for centuries instead of decades we would more than certainly figure out something to prevent that kind of a fate. Although you are right that is a risk, but a risk I'd be willing to take.

Considering I'm already tired of living, I can't imagine being forced to live forever. Suicide rates would be high, regardless of technological innovation.
