Apple has filed a patent for person-to-person transactions

jos

We have way too many p2p transaction methods already available:

  • Paypal
  • Cash Edge Popmoney (Citi, US Bank, Ally)
  • Chase Quickpay
  • CrearXchange (BoA, Wells Fargo).
  • AMEX Serve
  • AMEX Bluebird
  • And the countless other p2p payment systems we have available on hand.

In all honesty though, this might be a good thing. We already have too many p2p transaction services which can't get done with different bank and providers. It'll take someone like apply to shakeup the market since their phones have a 43% market share in the US.

Yeah this makes sense to me, we need another article and Apple being less vague.

The problem with the patent office, is they'll sign off anything that Apple thinks of. -_-

What makes you think I like the other companies that act similarly?

I guess TIM Cook have not heard of Paypal, Venmo etc...Apple doesn't always create the technology it patents, and could just be trying to stop a competitor using it.

If maybe we can have person to person file transfers that work outside of the Mac/iOS infrastructure that would be grand... paying for Internet access to get a picture from a phone to a laptop is ridiculous.

We hate them because they are the celluar version of Beats by Dre. Overcharged items, who are in general crap, just look at the One Plus One when it launched side by side with the iPhone, they had pretty much same specs, however One Plus One costed 1/3 of the iPhone, and it has been praised by even LTT and others to be a good phone.

Further more, Apple introduces brain damage to youngsters

They're nothing like Beats by Dre... Apple products are functionally pretty good and pretty well made, too. People who hate them (for legitimate reason, not just because it's the popular opinion of places like this) actually hate them because of their closed infrastructure (which is what my complaint above is symptomatic of) and not particularly customisable. If these people weren't hypocrites they would exclusively use Linux.

One Plus was an unproven quantity. Given their immensely shitty marketing (video yourself destroying your phone for a free upgrade ! HOSHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY DID IT!!") you can't really compare their prices with established companies like HTC, Samsung and Apple.

And I've made that last phrase really big because it sums up how well you've thought this through.

Further more, Apple introduces brain damage to youngsters, making them think that its cool to own Apple products for the sake of fasion wear, when it should be technology related. My younger cousin just got a Macbook and she is just a fraction of those who want a Macbook because its fasion wear and status.

By the way, you can create a really good product and take money for it, but when you just do ''minor'' changes that nobody will actually use and just bump the price for the sake of ''fuck it, people are retarded they'll pay for it'', you're no good.

this statement sums up how little you understand apple and how irrationally bias you are. iphone has innovated more than any other phone in the last 5 years with things like apple pay, hi res screens and touch id....there are phones are far from crap. as for one plus....fuck one plus. it was an ok phone for the money decently speced, but let down in other areas....maily the fact that you could buy one properly for god knows how long.  as for overpriced, a 6+ costs the same as note 4 on contract when it was released.

Considering edison patented most of what tesla came up with, and american courts upheld the ruling time, and time again.... Yeah I can believe this.

Just for giggles, do you know that the only two things edison invented were the electric chair, and carbon fibre?

Because softwares patents are jokes, TekSydicate makes some very good points about them.

I'm sorry but that's not why I dislike Apple. I dislike them because they have a history of overcharging for their stuff which they exploit people in developing countries to produce for them and which does not cost them even a fraction of what they charge for it. Not to mention that they promote their own very tightly controlled ecosystems as being the best in the entire world since clearly everyone wants a locked ecosystem... Also they try to appear as though they are supposedly helping the world while they are simultaneously abusing human rights in developing countries to create their products at the lowest possible price. As such I consider them to be utterly despicable.

You just described every company in America.

*coming next week*

Apple patents the concept of converting solar energy to usable energy and tries to sue nature for copyright infringement.

Seriously, someone should make a cartoon mini-series about apple patenting things and then suing stuff. Comedic gold.

No doubt Apple Inc has the highest margin in the electronic business. But if you think that maximizing profit as a company is a crime, then you might want to direct your disdain towards capitalism instead. If you think Apple is fooling the consumer, then you're wrong. Everyone knows and has heard hundreds of times the ridiculously high margin Apple earns. Yes, they know and they're still willing to buy it because they value the services and simplicity iPhone offers.

So why can electronic products be a fashionable device? People spends thousands on a time keeping device, fashionable cloths, shoes ... etc. I doubt I'd ever buy clothing or even furniture without ever considering their aesthetic looks. It's possible that you might not like Apple's products, but it can't be so extreme that you dislike other's aesthetic opinion so much that you have to hate on Apple right?

I'm not sure what you mean by minor, but surely there are people who like touch ID or force touch ... etc and will enjoy using it. In fact, I feel that recent changes of android phones are pretty insignificant since they're only improving their already great processing power and screen resolution that more people won't even need (and other small feature that I think really few people uses). But I can see why people will saturate these processing power albeit it's only a small group of consumers. Surely it's not hard to see why the so Apple products have appealing features right?

So uh, my bank's mobile app already does this... if you took the word 'iphone' out of the equation it'd be word for word.

How can they patent this?

Because they basically own the US patent system and can get away with patenting literally anything.
