I've read in the forum that you are losing money with scrapyard wars. I was wondering if you have ever thought of doing a fundraising campaign or something like this for every season of this series. I'll gladly pay some €€ in order to see more scrapyard episodes.

They already said that they gonna patreon Channel Super Fun, and I think the money loss is kinda worth it because SW gets so many attenion, call it investing

I don't think such things are required. They loose more money on moving to new office than the cost (and time) of all gear.

How could Scrapyard Wars possibly be produced at a loss for LMG? The series is probably the most viewed on the channel. The first series alone has a combined 2.4 million views. Not to mention the sponsors backing the project behind the scenes.

The only way I see them loosing money is it takes so long to do it and so long to edit cutting in time to edit other videos that combined would get more views. Once they get to their new office I would hire more people so they get 2 videos a day

a loss because most of their content is already paid for(free for them) and then they lose their WHOLE TEAM for several days, which paying whatever they pay times all the employees adds up hella fast. let alone then going though the sheer amount of content.

Pure loss is budget used. Can't remember what it was. Then there's loss of manhours when 1 manager/reviewer/screenwriter/producer, 1 benchmarker/screenwriter/host and 2 cameraman/editors go around for 3 full days. And then all the time each episode takes to edit.

 

So in the end it works like pc hardware market with HDDs. Making and selling consumer HDDs is loss for manufacturers. But it gains loyalty and trust so that they can get better deals with enterprise grade and datacenters. With LMG this means that they attract more viewers who (hopefully) stick around for other content too.

I doubt that , especially since they cut it up into like 8 episodes to maximize all the ad revenue and ad slots they can get out of us.

Keep in mind that shooting it requires four people full time for an entire week. Editing is one dude full time for as much weeks as there are episodes.

Think about how much work goes into a scrapyard wars with 2.4 million views ( min 4 people 3 days Plus Editing 48 hours of footage & Cash they spent) then how much time do you think goes into say the 980TI benchmark of 600k views already there's no way its the same type of profit in scrapyard wars. but i think its great for helping grow the channel even more as its easier to recommend for others to watch since its more of a show then short clips on specific items. Also i am all for if they have donations to help offset all the man hours another scrapyard wars will take i watch so many of their videos for free why not pay for some of them especially if it directly means more of what i like to see more of.

Ad revenue isn't the reason for cutting episodes. The real reason is target audience and platform. The episodes are already hitting near 10min which seems to be current viewer generation interest point of video length. They could do it the TV way and have each episode of 20min content and 10min of commercial breaks. Would that be better?
