Experiences with non-techies

One time someone asked me to take a look at her laptop because she thought there was a virus on it. So I booted it up and watched as dozens of anti virus programs open up in the task bar. So I click on one, and it's window pops up on screen, and she exclaims, "Don't touch that! That's a virus!" *The biggest facepalm I've ever had* Then with the straghtest face I could muster, (which was almost crying with laughter) I said, "That's not a virus, thats your virus protection software..." Then she gets all mad at me and tells me that I don't know anything about computers, or what I'm talking about, or her laptop and all the "viruses" on it.... I was just like "wooooow" and walked away, then heard he go "Ooooh... it is anti virus program..." LOL was the funniest computer situation I've ever been in.

My parents said that a prebuilt PC is better than one on parts, because a G3258 on a Z97 @ 4.8 ghz + 270 will not work and will not be better than an i5 650 + 750 Ti that fails the drivers twice a day. Also, they said a Full HD Intel is better than a BenQ, because it's a noname.

I used to run a i5 650 daily... I miss that little dualcore so much. Yeah... I abused the absolute shit out of it hammered at 100% load, but I kind of miss it. :(

Not really a "non-techie" story, but still worth sharing:

I play on a TF2 comp team.  We were all in Mumble during a scrimmage, and I heard rather loud keystrokes from one person, and sounded familiar...

Me:  "Hey, I'm hearing your keyboard when you talk, are those Cherry MX Blues?"

Him:  "Yup."

Third person:  "How do you know what type of keyboard he's using?  That's creepy!"

So I was just casually reading on Android version history and one of my freinds walks up and says "What the fuck is a kernel?"and Googles it. No he doesn't typer "kernel" into Google. He types "what the fuck is a kernel".

Me:  Mom don't buy a new mac, you can save so much money with a Hackintosh, or just a PC.

Mom:  But I LIKE macs, they're so much more powerful.

Me:  Mom you can build such a better PC for the same price as a mac, you can even put mac OS on it.

Mom:  But mac os isn't meant to be on a PC, the apple geniuses won't cover it if something happens to it!

Me:  They don't know crap at the genius booth.  I can fix anything you come across

Mom:  No, you'll break it!

Me:  -__- I would've build this computer.  I would know it inside and out, do you really think I could break it so easily?

Mom:  Andrew get off that computer, you've been on it all day!

Me:  No, I've shoveled snow, done my homework, practiced piano, and walked the dog.  We have the day off school, what else do you want me to do?!

Mom:  I said GET OFF, or I'll rip that computer apart!

Me:  Fine, but you don't even know how to.

Mom:  Oh yes I do, I can get Dad to do it too (my dad still thinks the monitor is the computer).

Me:  Go ahead then.

Mom:  *Proceeds to unplug headphones*

Wow. 6 min delay between that double post! Your connection must have went all to shit.

Edit: Whoops. Format looked that same! Thought it was a re post lol

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

So I was in the computer lab at school today during science.  The computers were off, so we turned them on.  The girl next to me was mashing her mouse.  I told her that doing that does nothing, and she is just wasting energy.  She responded saying that mashing the buttons on the mouse will make it boot faster.  She refused to accept the fact that doing that does nothing  -_-

Yeah, sorry about that.  I was writing a story and thought of another one halfway through.
