Experiences with non-techies

Don't worry it happens here, "Android is the worst thing!" They call my HTC One (M7) a tablet just because the iPhone 4 is the size of the screen. Then they complain about how bad it takes drops as they THROW THEM IN THE AIR AND LET THEM SMASH INTO PAVEMENT WITHOUT CASES. Richie Rich parents much? Good grief you know how hard it was for me to even get this phone? I've had to pay for every upgrade in my computer..

Also someone in my class was complaining about how bad the school computers were. I tell him, "We realize they're slow, they weren't built to run fast. Besides that smashed phone in your pocket probably won't outperform it." He said, "Yes it will!" Gets mad at computer and starts smashing computer just because some go into boot options for Windows 7. How many rants to I have to stop myself from..?

Those people deserve to be drawn and quartered for doing that suit and being such spoiled fucks. Reading that made me want to punch all of the people who do that in the face.

I was browsing my facebook feed when an ad for a local laptop repair shop showed up. They posted pics of a customer's laptop who used SUPER GLUE in their laptop's gpu chip. It took them a while to remove it, I have no idea how they did it but damn they are good.

EDIT: They used nail polish. LOL

Do you mean nail polish remover?  If I recall correctly some super glue bottles even recommend it's use if you get it on your skin...which I swear it's impossible not to.

Our school networking system was so screwed up, everyone got admin access on CMD and so the school server would shut down every few minutes and nobody would know why. The school server was directly linked to the main school board server file system too so if you tried, you could probably cause some damage although I'm pretty sure the school board would probably archive important data. Oh. And most classrooms came with an airport speaker system so people passing by your class would play sound clips of a porn or whatever and the teachers didn't know how to deal with it for a few weeks.

Well technically Sir Tim Berners-Lee didn't invent the internet, he invented the World Wide Web, which is basically a protocol that some parts of the internet uses. The internet is simply a load of computers connected together that can communicate over internet protocol, which is like writing letters to each other. The WWW is like a standardised languange for the contents of the letters.

But that's just being picky :P

If you ever get the chance to go to CERN in Geneva, they have Tim Berners-Lee's original NEXT computer and the paper he wrote explaining his idea of the WWW. On the paper, someone (I assume his boss) had written 'intriguing, but very exciting!'

Why would she give you the fault? You didn't do anything to drop that wine in her PC, accordingly to what you've told us. Tell her to stop drinking wine while using a PC like what @xnamkcor did say.

Watch out, there might be ninjas out there

Blame her for having the Lappy turned on.  The components are fine getting wet it is power going through te components that cause a problem.

See this video of someone actually immersing a MB in water then letting it dry ou (not enough at first) then powering it on, no probs.

We had a presentation on how to do a research project today at our school's library. When the presentation finished, we went to the computers to research for a project we're doing. Someone opens a browser and it doesn't work, so he starts saying "Hey! The internet isn't working!!! *my name*, come here!" I go over there and on top of the computer there is the ethernet cable, I say "Didn't you notice the cable?", he replies "How the hell am I supposed to know what that cable does?". I'm not saying people should know all I/O ports, but if they knew more than USB it'd be nice. I wonder what they learn in ICT classes...

ICT covers 'input' 'processing' and 'output' and gives examples. That's about it.

I manager to teach a few non techie friends a little bit like what the network cable does. Though since our network is called NSNET many call it the NSNET cable :/

:( guess I won't have a good non techie story like I hoped. The teacher intends to mark the metaphors before letting the class read them out loud.

On a tour of some college I have no interest in, just went because the class got to go for free. During the tour, the guide said that equipment is provided for each class, depending on the class that you have.

"So an animating class would get macbooks because they need them, and some other class would get an HP/Dell because there's nothing really special about them"

I get it... so technology has to come from Apple to be professional grade, otherwise you can't do shit on it. Makes perfect sense.

Talking to this kid on Facebook as we speak:

"Dude I'm getting this new computer."

"Specs?"

"i7 4930k, 64GB RAM, GTX 780."

"What games do you expect to play?!"

"Minecraft."

An i3 and a 750ti would suit his needs. At least you can try to convince him to play better games.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

He doesn't even need a 750Ti for Minecraft. He said he would be playing Crysis 3 as well so it's better.

Actually, minecraft gets pretty demanding when you start adding mods, texture packs, and resource packs. The coding is really bad. But that much ram and a 780 is a little overkill.
