Experiences with non-techies

Well you are indeed right about it but since I didn't want to tell too much of personal information about who that girl was and since you did get confused I might just tell more about it to clarify stuff.

The girl who dropped her phone was actually one of the many bully's on Instagram, that social picture sharing site, and she commented many nasty things to non popular kids and recently started attacking one of my class mate. She never did some harm to me (which you're of course right by making that statement) but she was self being wrong by starting bullying innocent kids, just to get recognition for being a "badass" of her group.

In my opinion, she deserved it.

I have personally zero tolerance to bullying and if it happens in the front of me I will try my best to protect the innocent kid.

Hopefully I did clarify some stuff out.

"Trying your best" involves waiting around until something unfortunate happens?

If you're in college, you can get Office 365 University for 80 dollars for 4 years. It comes with the full suite for a CIS student, not just "Student" ones.

Alright now that I am on my beautiful PC *cough not cough* I will tell you what happened with the troll.

A few pages back somebody, I think it was @tmccelland455, made a post about girls and lipsticks. The offending user apparently was ticked off by this and made an account to combat it. She wrote something about "that irl is me bae bitch" and @ElfFriend and I stated that her obsessive use of acronyms like "bae" and hashtags made her look like a moron considering that this is a high-end forum where intelligent communication takes place and we don't do things like that. She wrote back (mind you, I quote this) "giving no fvcks tbh" in pink Courier New, 24-point.

I then wrote something (I don't remember what) and she posted a .GIF of some girl with pink hair doing some weird dance, at which point  I replied, "Mother Mary, are you serious?" and mentioned the name of a moderator. Within 3 minutes of that post she was banned.

Let's move on with life.

When someone says Google Chrome and Safari are types of internet on phones and you only hear them ask if you have Google internet on your phone.. Later on he says that Google Chrome is very complicated. Hope he doesn't ever try going into programming.
Don't remember what else I was going to say.

Nope. Just in high school. A freshman, at that.

People always ask: Does the Internet work?

Me: How the fuck am I supposed to know? Ask Tim Berners-Lee, for fuck's sake!

Well technically Sir Tim Berners-Lee didn't invent the internet, he invented the World Wide Web, which is basically a protocol that some parts of the internet uses. The internet is simply a load of computers connected together that can communicate over internet protocol, which is like writing letters to each other. The WWW is like a standardised languange for the contents of the letters.

But that's just being picky :P

We had a presentation on how to do a research project today at our school's library. When the presentation finished, we went to the computers to research for a project we're doing. Someone opens a browser and it doesn't work, so he starts saying "Hey! The internet isn't working!!! *my name*, come here!" I go over there and on top of the computer there is the ethernet cable, I say "Didn't you notice the cable?", he replies "How the hell am I supposed to know what that cable does?". I'm not saying people should know all I/O ports, but if they knew more than USB it'd be nice. I wonder what they learn in ICT classes...

I honestly don't think they know what USB stands for.

Not knowing what an Ethernet cable does is like not knowing what the Coaxial cable going to the TV does.

Explain what each did, then blow their mind and explain coaxial based networking.

A computer in my computer lab in school had an out of order sign on it. Turns out, the displayport cable was not hooked up to the monitor and when my cs teacher came to try to fix it he didn't even plug it in -_-. I ended up plugging it in myself and the computer was fully functional.

Wait your school has monitors that support DP?! My school has a mixture of Dell 1366x768 and 1024x768 monitors, all driven off VGA (not that there's anything wrong with VGA for that use). But if people are going to mark stuff as out of order, they should at least check it is actually not working...

The computers we have are new just got them this school year. The computers themselves have an AMD A6 with 4gb of ram running windows 7 64 bit. The monitors are 1680 x 1050 panels and they look pretty bad compared to my dell monitor but it's school

That actually sounds like a decent system for school. BTW, do you know which A6? There's quite a difference between models of the A6 line.

Also, isn't 1680x1050 16:10? That's odd for a school. Though, I have a 22" 1680x1050 Dell and I love it.

I think it's a 3620 not 100 percent sure. A lot of kids like to play counter strike on them during lunch :P
