So a while back I put up an ad on Gumtree, saying I'd assemble a PC for $50. Today a guy contacts me saying the PC he built won't power on, he's taken it to the store where he bought the parts, and they couldn't do anything. He asked if I could come around and rebuild it. So I get there, have a quick look, wonder why the graphics card won't go all the way into the slot, cut my finger on the ridiculous mITX/mATX hybrid case, then realize he's installed the motherboard without standoffs and forgotten the front panel connectors.

 

It worked fine once I fixed it, luckily he hadn't plugged the power button in so the board didn't short. What I'm more concerned about here is the PC repair team at the store he went back to. But I can't complain, easy $50.

 

Edit: Forgot to mention, he didn't install the I/O shield either. And the store didn't notice it either.

Probably too much of a cluster fuck to fix for only $50 for them

I disagree, I would say better cpu for sure. You can always get an ssd for 40-80 later on, a new cpu is quite a bit more.

You can always use nvenc for encoding instead of cpu
