My funniest experience with a non-techie was with my cousin, he gave me 1500US$ and told me to buy him good computer parts and build it for him, after buying the parts i went to his house and we spent 3 hour building the computer because i had to keep explaining to him everything after building the computer i told him "its done" he was like "can i power it on" i was like "sure", he went to the screen and kept pressing the power button on the screen, because the power button had on symbol and he just kept pressing the button, i was like "what are you doing" he said "im powering on the computer" i just started laughing like a maniac, he looked at the case and was like "oh". That was one of the funniest things that happened to me in a long time, thankfully the computer turned on and everything was well.

That's just another way of saying they're overpriced for what they offer. Semantics are different but the same conclusion is met.

It's like saying 3+2=1+4. Different values but the equations are equal to each other.

From my observation, a computer illiteracy costs zillions of dollars in work productivity. A typical 40+ years old employee I've dealt with:

- not familiar with an idea of a taskbar, only see a window that's in front of them, if it has been minimized or covered with another program, it's lost into a void to them, they go to Start and look for that program again

- same with tab browsing, if they want to go to another website, they click Start and look for that browser icon to initialize a new window

- not knowing a concept of Save As and absolutely lost in a folder structure

- not using Google Maps, instead painstakingly write down every turn and direction on a piece of paper

From my estimate, such worker does the same task in 8 hours as a normal person would do in 1 and there's an endless number of companies filled with them.

A couple days ago my brother literally said that a 2GB graphics card is 2x the performance of a 1GB.  That a card with twice the graphics memory of another is twice as good.

2 and 1 being what he used as an example.  In his mind the same applies to 8GB 4GB and or any two numbers with one being twice the other.

I tried to tell him he was 100% wrong but he wouldn't believe me.

Tbh I don't know what all contributes to GPU performance but if there's one thing I've learned it's that VRAM is not the sole determine factor.

I think that was part of my problem.  I knew my brother was wrong but not how to explain *why* he is wrong.

i mean in 4k the 2gb Card will be twice as fast , but you know 5fps instead of 2 isnt something to be proud of

He wasn't meaning the same card but different VRAM amounts.

Example: he'd think that a 980 ti is equal to a 1060 6GB simply because they have the same amount of VRAM.
