I used to work for a heavy industrial IT company. So not desktop level hardware. Not even server. Industrial grade. Equipment that could operate fanless in extreme wide temperatures environments, and suffer a ton of ESD and EMI interference without even twitching.

One of the directors at the company had literally no idea what half the equipment did. It was so cringeworthy watching him trying to blag his way with clients. I remember one meeting with a well known research body and they were after an Embedded PC that met some high-end MIL-STD-810 standard and his response was "oh yeah I'm sure we can meet that.. we're ISO9001."...........

Basically MIL-STD-810 is a military grade design standard for electrical hardware. It's something that you learn from day 1 in the industry. ISO 9001 is a business standard completely unrelated to MIL-STD. Its quite difficult to confuse the two things but he did.

Maybe it's context, but it was one of them head-in-hands situation..

Watching someone in such a high authority position, who should understand the industry inside out, squirm and blag his way through.

I remember another one from one my teachers saying dont turn the computer off if its the last lesson because it uses more power to start it.

power usage can surge for under a second when booting up, but its negligible

So, I don't know where else to put this than here... because customers don't know how to power cycle the modems properly.
Customer calls in.

"My internet isn't working."

"Okay, I'll be happy to assist you, let me look into this, I'm going to run a couple of tests."

"Okay."
Here I am checking sync and session.  I'm not able to get into the modem though, as the way she was describing while I was doing this, it seemed like her or one of her kids hit the WiFi button.

"Okay, I can't get into the modem here, can I have you unplug the modem for 15 seconds, then plug it back in?"

"Sure."

Customer does that, she's on DSL so it takes a few minutes for everything to come back up.  As soon as sync is back up, I'm in the modem, WiFi is enabled, and she's able to surf.

The customer was upset that this worked to fix her issue....

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

About 2 years ago my dad got back into HTML, he did it years ago and is really good at it. So he finishes a website for a business and he brings the USB to the business to show the website to them. He gave it to them and they tried to shove it into a type of display port , somehow, within their computer they had like a HD 5450 with no backplate, they knocked it out of the pcie slot and then a thud and a dented case later, broken GPU.

Context: every month or so (dam levels permitting) I go to a sailing camp. There are about 15 of us (mostly regulars) and two instructors. We slept in pre-fabricated esque wooden cabins, on like 12 bunks. The 'living room' cabin where we ate and hung out was a very similar affair. I'll take some pics next time I'm around.

But, on to the story. One of the instructors, Niel, was a web designer. He didn't exactly look it. Tall and skinny with a hook nose and messy Grey hair, but he was one. He had this old workstation laptop from the 2011-2012 era. It  was an HP, but this has hell with that 'brushed aluminium but it still doesn't look good look.' anyway, me and one of the guys got to chatting, and he insisted that the laptop had 4 i7 four in it.

The end.

My friend insists that the fx 6300 is a powerful cpu for gaming. He looks at the specs at Game debate and doesn't consider ipc . Lol.

Not price to performance btw

Also dual cores can't game

And the fx series has better compatibility with gpus
