Well public WiFi can be iffy. Which is why you dont go to important websites like banks and stuff when on Public WiFi.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Even then, how good is their security? Plus every one has the password needed. I would assume that if you know how to decrypt the data that you can read what people are doing on the network. With my schools network Im required to give them my log on ID, so a different password for every one.

Security =/= virus.

They're talking about getting a FUCKING VIRUS and not how it's insecure.

its a dual core , its the LOWEST END DESKTOP SANDY BRIDGE CPU

and 4gb ram is not alot if you work in PS/coreldraw and you have something "simple" wich has over 700 elements in it ,

i have autosave on 5 minutes as i lost plenty of progress to the "out of memory" popup

That sounds lighting fast compared to these systems that have core 2 duo era chips with a small amount of ram.

Oh. But if you look at those ones you no longer get quad cores, and the points I made about the spectre and envy apply.

Take a look at the MSI GS63VR. I own one. They're as thin as last-gen MacBook Pros and weigh 3.9 pounds. I got mine for $1550.

Specs:

i7-6700HQ

GTX 1060 6GB

16 GB RAM at 2400 MHz

128GB M.2 SSD (upgradeable)

1 TB HDD (upgradeable)

Ports:

3 USB 3.0

1 USB 2.0

1 Thunderbolt 3

SD card reader

Gigabit ethernet

Separate headphone/mic jacks.

Given all that's on this machine for its form factor and price, I couldn't justify any of the MacBook lineup at all unless I absolutely needed MacOS.

I'll admit though, Apple definitely puts better displays in their laptop than what's in mine. I got the Best Buy model, so it has a TN panel rather than IPS to shave the price down $50-100 from the other GS63VR models.

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti FE

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53

PSU: EVGA G6 Supernova 850

I have a Pentium D machine that boots in 2 mins with an old IDE HDD, 4gbs of ram and windows 7...

I can't make it run any newer OS as the Pentium D is missing some instruction sets that the newer OSes use.

After Intel Kaby Lake officially launches, I can see a future argument between 2 friends during lunch.

  • Both thinks they know about computers more than the other.
  • Both Intel and AMD have a cpu call 7600K.
  • Both won't believe the other platform has the same model, and think only theirs has it
  • Both will think their competitor is trying to copy from them, cause it's better.

so this one time I was hanging out with my friend who is the manager at a tech shop by where I live and a girl comes in and buys a 2tb hard drive. we let her know that we install hard drives for $1 (the cost of the sata cable we use) and she says "just because I am a woman does not mean I cant work on computers" and leaves in a huff. two days later she comes back in saying that the HDD is not working so we take the computer in to look at it, we open it and the HDD is nowhere to be seen, so we ask her where it is. and it turns out that she scanned it and put the scanned image on her desktop to install the drive. and to top that off she threw away the drive she paid almost $200 for and she wanted us to give her a new one.

Wow... that's a pretty good deal.

Now I'll say, it is bigger and a little heavier, and most likely the battery life will be shorter too (the MBP has a bigger battery but has less power hungry components), but still, I gotta say that's one good laptop.

I still think the MBP would be a better buy for someone just doing normal work stuff such as web browsing, doc typing, and perhaps some video editing and such (in final cut), but that's one good laptop, I gotta say.
