I'm hyper paranoid about viruses. I've had far too many over the years, at least back when I didn't care about anti-virus. NEVER AGAIN!

Make sure it boots?

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. I never install anti-virus anymore.  I've used them all over the years, with Avast having been my favorite, but they all bog you down after a while.  Now I just hash check when I download, or read comments on suspicious downloads.  I'll run Malwarebytes occasionally just to make sure I'm good.

But the very first thing I do is also install Chrome.  Gotta download those drivers using an appropriate browser.   ;)

Check for cuts on my hands or wrists. If you don't bleed assembling you computer, it won't work. Hooray for computer superstitions!

No, but for reals, I usually run a few benchmarks. Usually just some from Kombustor, PassMark, and Unigine, then I'll run a few games with Fraps and see what framerates I can get with maxed out graphics, then tune the games from there.
