Florida Bans Computers and Smartphones?

Samdb

Well it turns out that that was not the initial intention, which was to ban internet cafe's and slot machines, but it seems someone needs to go back to school due to this terrible typo. The bill was aiming to ban gambling online at internet cafe's, however one unlucky owner has come forward saying that the bill has been poorly worded and states that all computers and smartphones able to gamble are banned, which is a mighty blunder on the part of the Floridian government.

A quote from the Huffington Post:

The ban defines illegal slot machines as any “system or network of devices” that may be used in a game of chance.

Congratulations Florida, you just wasted more money having this bill amended than you would have doing it right the first time.

This stuff happens all the time. Law makers some times screw up the wordings of laws and thereby they make them to broad.

Back in the late 1990's, when I lived in Hong Kong, they passed a law that pratically banned all VCR's, because they could record TV programs.

And in Texas they once passed a law that was suppose to forbid sex between a human and an animal. They, however, forgot to specify "animal", so all sexual activity between humans was forbidden in Texas for a month

I wonder how many times that law was broken!

Haven't seen it on the news yet but I get the feeling that it will show up soon. But not only that but the whole state of Florida kinda sucks. Where I live teachers are getting laid off at a significant level like around 200-something teachers and their salaries are TERRIBLE compared to other states. Also the money management is terrible.

Weather is horrible. And even with that have you seen the mainstream popular groups at high schools? Disgusting and ignorant.

Wouldn't basically any computer be able to gamble just by adding a program that generates a random number?

  • No modern planes or cars.
  • No electricity.
  • No anything basically, because computers run everything...

These people get paid more then I ear in 10 years, I could do a better job at writing a law. Just write at the end of the law statement within common sense everytime that way the government can manipulate the laws to keep it's citizens in check. Oh wait they do that anyway. :)

Got to love Florida laws LOL, We have tons of off the wall laws here in Florida. I think that it has to do with the fact that we are a tourist state.

Isn't Florida were all the retired people go?  Maybe they make all those laws because there is a lot of grumpy old people nagging them to do something about the state of decay in society.  It's the grey vote.

Now, if you don't mind the odds on this Nigerian casino site are so good I am going to give them my life savings.

They basically just rendered all computer device illegal. Smart TVs, iPods, smartphone etc.

It's kinda funny because Florida already has it's own set of problems.
