Any little thing I've done that he doesn't like the way it came out or its been done. He will get in my face and just yell at me till I break. Its been a few days like that and today it's because I was nice enough to cook an Easter meal(which I didn't have to do) but didn't make anything for dessert so I had them both yelling at me about it.

Sounds a lot like my father... At least the last time I saw him some 5 or so years ago.

I have a suspicion that the rage isn't really about you. People don't get that angry about other people in my experience, it seems far more likely that there's something going on in their lives other than you that's making them ragey.

If there has been anything I've leant its that some people simply aren't worth the emotional trauma. Even parents.

Look at it logically. Cooking for yourself in whichever style you prefer, does it seem a reasonable thing to get angry about?

I know its hard, I've been there. My recommendation would be to attempt to limit contact. Try to judge when the stupid angry rage will come out and avoid those times completely. If its causing too much pain just focus on getting the hell outta there.

This is really just conjecture but looking at it from a neurological perspective, it seems possible you might have triggered a basic self-defense response that's interfering with their higher processes. It's probably fear and a need for escape that causes your mum (at least) to hold fast to her religious beliefs and your father's probably just falling in line since it's the path of least resistance. The more effective you are in showing them the illogic of faith the more it'll trigger their rationalisation, the more deeply they'll become entrenched and the worse the situation will become.

 

My advice would be to forget about trying to attain your ideal set of circumstances and just look at doing the best with what you have available to you.

 

It sucks, I know, but there's no way you're going to be able to talk them round. You just have to leave them to their beliefs and accept them as they are.

 

My advice would be to just tell them you prayed over it and God's made you straight, just to get them off your back and being nice to you again, so that you can start figuring out how to move on with your own life outside of the family home. :0/

Idk if I'm ever going to come out to anyone, not because I'm scared, but because I don't really care or think that my sexuality (kinda bi/pan but hot dudes don't turn me on but I'm cool with doing gay shit and having a bf) defines me.
