Here in Canada, yes, big events like that won't be happening till fall.  Summer stuff is basically out, maybe later summer, but def not June.

Oh no, we've actually come ahead of the United States in percentage of citizens with first shots now. 49.9% vs 55.1% today.
 

Though we did lag behind so a lot of vaccinations are recent while the virus kept spreading though new cases is plummeting now.

Also, Canada is far more cautious with reopening, the US has us soundly beaten in 'Percentage of citizens it let die' and we're pretty cool with letting you guys keep that crown.

I just want physical chess clubs to re-open up so all the major tournaments start coming back.  Online only chess sucks.

I'm aware of the National Open in Las Vegas back to physical format but I have no one to go with so....uh....yeah.  And absolutely nothing I can do about that (trying to go by yourself even if by bus is just a huge waste of way too much money).

Not really, he's great.  Super cute.  We have a lot of similar interests.  He's big into Kingdom Hearts and we kinda bonded over that as I had been playing it and he'd hang out while I was playing it.  

 

Now we're both going through all the Halo games since he's never played Halo, almost done with 2.

You need to find other activities, like video games, or take up a hobby, like maybe art, writing or crafting, or some other interesting and new activity, even board gaming or card gaming or D&D, etc.

 

It's really unfair to another person to expect them to constantly sit in one spot doing the same thing for hours, with something they don't really enjoy.  Your boyfriend did that for you, even if he wasn't interested in some of the things, and you basically wore him out by that grind.  You need to be willing to do things for him too, things that make him happy and expand yourself a bit in the process.  And don't be stuck on an addiction.  Life doesn't have to be so narrow and monotonous.  There's so many things to do to keep busy if you just broaden your scope.  Maybe even something like Chess, or golf, too.

 

Spice things up a bit and then previous things may be more exciting (or you'll just want to do new things).

 

This may also be something you need a very good therapist for.  Maybe someone else can help but usually certain serious issues are taboo here for very obvious reasons.

This might be a hot take but I'm fine with 'Rainbow Capitalism'.  Sure it's faceless corporation saying 'We love you gays!  We put rainbows in our cookies and bank over there has some super gay investments you might like!' but it's also saying that it views LGBT people as worth advertising to and using in advertising.  That's a net positive over them just letting LGBT ignored.

 

Like, yes it's exploitive capitalism, but the straight people have been the focus of being exploited for capitalism for so long, at least we're in on it now too.

 

I legit believe it's a net positive.  Hell, just putting a rainbow flag in the front of a McDonalds, or having two men raising a baby in a diaper commercial helps increasingly normalize the basic existence of LGBT people to the world.

I see where you're coming from but to me it feels like nothing more than some big corporations saying "slap a rainbow on it to make it seem like we care". If they actually cared they would be supporting it all the time, ideally without plastering it all over their products, instead of just making all their packaging rainbow when June rolls around.

only that they are being ignored, which is why I dislike some of it. To the places they operate in.

Like they may have their own based in 3rd world countries were its not allowed, so they are not willing to use such an icon in those places or on their own version which is used over there. Mostly focus on the english speaking nations or the west. While leaving the middle east out of it or other areas like that, to one of the world powers like china, maybe russia too, etc. (then again a lot of things are banned or blocked over there).

Yes, the more difficult part is me though with my difference, sure it's not that big however that said they are learning to accept me as I am a bit more lately.

The biggest problem with rainbow capitalism is that it's only performative at best. What I mean by that is they just slap rainbows onto things to make it look like they care, but then in the background they continue to donate to anti-LGBT groups and politicians. Their "support" is just an empty veil and is virtually meaningless.

 

But at the same time, it makes LGBTphobes unreasonably angry that the cereal box has spaces for pronouns on the side so ayy lmao

Agreed. It really bothers me how companies pretend to care about the LGBT community, yet it’s just to make money from those people buying their cheap rainbow silk screened shirts.

Just give your money to queer people instead. It's easy and does more to support the community than giving your money to, say, Disney, who from what I can tell is pocketing all profits made from their LGBTQ+ merch.

It has to do with huge companies exploiting the LGBT community and people who support the LGBT community. Specifically, when companies say they'll use the funds from the merch to support the community, yet they just pocket it. One dude selling shirts is fine.
