Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

Mitch

My iPhone 5S. It dies when it's on 17% battery, crashes and has to restart every other day, and the glass on the front of the phone is popping out. Ever since iOS 7 was released, the keyboard changed and now the spacebar is in an absurd place and I always hit the "." instead.

Can't wait until next year when my contract is up so I can get rid of this junk. Hopefully the Note 5 is out when I can upgrade.

The Hard Drive Eater. In other words, my current system . Went through 5 HDDs in 6 years (various Seagates and WDs)... Current one has been working for a while now. Should have bought and SSD when I had the chance.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Fiddling with the Bios and frying my HDD... Oops.

Thankfully WD replaced it. They said the drive was damaged anyway. Good excuse for an SSD upgrade? I think Yes.

When I plugged my pc into my router using an Ethernet port due to getting bad signals with wifi (turns out the router was faulty).

The same day, lightning struck a transformer outside and surged up through the phone line frying the entire PC.

Using RAM way too high of a voltage for the mobo, effectively frying the RAM slots and rendering the mobo useless. Luckily it was just some old computer that was going to be disposed of anyways.

Games for windows live is one of the only pieces of software that I've used that has consistently just not worked at all. Even problems like being told that i don't own the game, when it's in my steam library!
