Have any of u overclocked your CPU to 5+Ghz?

9590s stock 5Ghz does not count. So have you overclocked any CPUs to 5Ghz and beyond

I know 8Pack had a 3930K at 5Ghz and Slick with a 2600K at 5Ghz both with watercooling

I had my 2600K at 5.1GHz on air with a Cooler Master V8. I err... sold it with the system for uber cheap. Wich I had known that chips like that are hard to come by.

I ran 5.33 Ghz once @1.6 Volts I never would recommend it for daily use unless your out in -20 and only intend to do a 5 minute cine bench run while cooling it with a h100i which will heat soak in about 3 minutes as the temperature creeps up very quickly

i know. :P ryan leech runs a fx6350@5GHzWatermelons as well. 32nm cpus are best for 5ghz by the looks of it :)

Shes not so nice anymore LOL

4.4GHz @ 1.3v maximum stable now for anything.

that is a shame. i run my i5 at 1.4v on air.

I ran it at 5GHz stable @ 1.45v for about 6 months or so. On a weekly basis I was doing 5.2GHz bench runs @ 1.5v. Then degradation kicked in. Went down to 4.9GHz stable, 4.8GHz stable, 4.7GHz stable etc. etc. Then it started taking tons more voltage to get it to 5.2GHz like 1.55v. Then I got out of benching because I realized if I blew this chip I wouldn't be able to replace it.

thats annoying. i tend to keep my benching to a minimum on high voltage on my main rig. i only needed a few runs at 5.327ghz on 1.62v to get a few scores i wanted. it degraded from 1.38 for 5ghz to 1.4v. since then its been rock solid.

Yeah it really dissuaded me from benching, definitely annoying. But, I'm saving up for another build I'll be all saved up by April or May. Going to grab one of these suckers: http://siliconlottery.com/products/4790k50g and do it right this time. No more benching, just stable @ 5.0GHz all day long.

But that's a solid chip you got.

Yeah the first time I took my 2500k to 5.2GHz I was like "what!," I bet I can scrounge up the CPU-Z for it.

bench stable?

yup. it was stable but temps were not good , 87C after 1 hours on Prime 95 .i downclocked it to 4.5ghz and now its on stock coz i realize after bit of time i don't need OC now so why kick it hard without need.

on this cooling setup too :D

What FM2+ board that's cheap would you suggest getting to overclock an APU? Does the ability to OC start at a particular chipset or are they all able to do it?

you should run cinebench and put it in the cinebench thread. that is a very good chip :)

A88X is the best. i think harry was using an asrock extreme 6+? it might have been the A85X version which is just FM2

bro its my first ever build and i didn't even know about it..i just watched few youtube videos and started overclocking. month ago i guess after building this rig in my room part by part with my own hand. i did posted 4.7ghz 4.9ghz at 1.28v on 76C tops after 1 hour on Prime95 when i came to know that something is called silicon lottery by members on this forum ... many stopped me not to do that again unless i get some better cooler . i was using hyber 212X at time i have H55 now but instead of overclocking i'm downclocking .lol

i'm planing to build a custom loop but i have no idea what i need and how to build a better loop in lowest budget ...i have only 500-700 bucks for doing that and i guess its not enough ...:(

if it can go for an hour then it should be fine for the 1 min that it would take to run cinebench.
