  1. oh what i'd give to replace the crappy wdtv we have. crashing all the time, takes ages to boot, takes ages to find our media pc every single day, as well as having to leave that pc on all day. it'd old, noisy, hot and inefficient. this gets rid of two birds with one stone and I was considering buying one anyway,
  2. Yeah, bit of a fault of mine. and yeah, if you're using third-party software like fraps, dxtory etc, then frame drops are a problem, and file sizes would be ridiculous. however, if something like shadowplay got support of recording at 120fps, then it would be minimal, high quality and with relatively low size. getting the high frame rates in the first place isn't that hard, if your PC is in any way modern, and if you have the 120hz monitor it kinda implies you can reach it. wish I could afford one since my 770 puts me above 100fps on bf4 often.
  3. one friend. and I think i may have been bullshitting about that without knowing while it definitely IS POSSIBLE to record 120fps with some programs, i was certain (and wrong) that shadowplay had that option. turns out it barely just got 4k recording, tho 120fps shouldn't be that hard in comparison..? sorry for misinformation mate. ahhhhh. of course it's on CS:S if only i had a 120hz monitor. gotta get me that Asus ROG swift ayee.
  4. Yeah my friend has that. His shadowplay records at 120fps. and i'm pretty sure fraps does it as well, i've seen people complaining about since it cause they're file sizes on fraps at 120fps are frieking enormous. dxtory supposedly does it as well http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1888219/record-gameplay-200-fps.html
  5. literally all of my friends' recordings are at 120fps. you just need a monitor that can display that.
  6. the way i see it is 60fps has been possible since we could adjust playback speed. for gaming, you capture at 60fps, render the vid at half speed, 30fps, upload and play at 2x speed on youtube. of course with the inbuilt option to just upload at that speed it's simpler now. but what interests me now is that this opens up the possibility to play back 120fps using the same method. render at half speed, 60 fps, upload, and play at 2x speed.
  7. I'd love the power supply. and the fans. and the case. The fans I have are all very. very noisy. I can hear all of it while gaming with volume up near maximum. The case has no cable routing and no usb 3.0 and the side panels are a pain to get off. the psu is the oldest part, had it since 2007 i think (corsair HX620, their first ever). lasted me a very long time without an issue, but again, loud, and don't think it's got all that long left to live.
  8. Supcom: Forged Alliance is a damn good one, though you have to go through the community-made lobby, which is actually pretty good now. the community is fairly small, you'll rarely if ever see more than I think 700 players on, depending on where you live, but it is very active and there are always a few available games for all skill levels. to the game itself, a game can go anywhere from 5 minutes to well over an hour in game (2-3 hours real-time if someone has a crap PC). the first 2/3 minutes can be slow especially for noobs, but once you're proficient then action is intense. also, FULL STRATEGIC VIEW. you can scroll right out and see the entire map instead of relying on a mini-map, though you can use one if you want. there are a lot of different levels to the game, and truly deserves the real time STRATEGY label. check it out
  9. I have that exact Motherboard and RAM, can tell it is a pretty damn good deal. someone take.
  10. wow that's... that's pretty damn insane easy 10/10 for gaming, though it bugs me a little seeing so many different SSDs of separate brand/capacity. probably would have been cheaper to get a single, 1TB one. Mine is primarily used for gaming CPU: i7 4770 Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC mate RAM: 2 x 8GB 1600Mhz Kingston HyperX GPU: MSI GTX 770 twin frozr Case: forgot, can't find anymore. old thermaltake. Do not like (tooless PCi slots, no USB 3.0) Storage: 2TB Seagate barracuda 7200rpm Cooling: stock
  11. it's Asus, and nothing Asus that I've ever owned has broken or even slowed down, which includes at least 5 graphics cards, almost 10 motherboards and a Moniter. plus I like its size. I really hate when manufacturers aim for that "super slim" thing, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS A GAMING RIG. I mean shit, the things gonna get hot and loud. give the damn thing room for decent cooling at least. ease of cleaning is something I've never had on a laptop, nor proper loud speakers. my mates and I like having something playing music in the background of our LANs, and lugging around proper speakers on top of everything else is a pain. as for performance, then hopefully the 850M will be better than the 740M my dad recently got and lends to me on occasion
  12. I used to think I wouldn't mind so much, until recently when removing dust from my machine, when putting a fan back in I decided to invert it (was exhaust, made intake). for some reason that caused it to make a really loud whining sound, as apposed to the dull humming I had before which was tolerable. even with headphones with volume most of the way up I could hear it and it drove me mad, until I switched that fan back around and it went back to normal. so really, for me it's not so much how much noise it makes as what kind of sound. a case and fan upgrade is probably still necessary though. using some old thermal-take case and I can't get the dust out of the fans. (and zero cable management options doesn't help airflow either ): )
